Sony hate thread

Im still blown out of my ass that they are asking 800 bucks...despite the fact everyone is living through this economy depression so most of the population cant freaking afford that. And that the ones that can afford it are okay with spending that money on a PS5 instead of a gaming rig at that point.

The line between gaming PC and console has become so thin at this point that it really is starting to become a matter on if you are willing to go that far for brand loyalty to the point of self sabotage.

"I just want something that plays games!" is now almost synonymous with "I just want to pay the same price for the PC that does a lot less!"

Because it fun and doesn't expect you to treat it like a part-time job, you joyless bitch.
"Hur dur this game doesn't let me shoot people in the head and uses primary colors! Where's all the titties and racial slurs?! I'm too much of adult and alpha male to enjoy this!"
Four years and the only thing you get on the ps5 is a 4/10 tech demo. Sad!

Every game looks good these days
And they looked good back in 2012, took less time to make and ran on much weaker hardware than what we have now. They also didn't look like a low quality ps2 game that people seemingly want to go to now.

Not only are games taking more time and money to make but now you need to buy expensive hardware for them and for what? For a game that doesn't look any better than something released around 2012-2017 while running so much worse? But nah man, 4k textures everywhere, real time reflections in every eyeball and hyper-detailed models that could have just been low-poly please because it's so fucking worth it and definitely not a waste of resources.

The worst part of the graphical fidelity arms race is that we've completely lost style along the way.
Bigly agree. Find me some modern Sony shit that is as youthfully creative as some esoteric world from Baten Kaitos.

Others like Nintendo learned long ago that good art design can keep a game from looking dated no matter the hardware.

There we have it folks, console will remain their primary focus. So better stop buying the pc, lol..

PlayStation co-CEO Hideaki Nishino isn’t concerned. In a machine translated interview with Nikkei (paywall), he explained: “I think that many mobile games have ads, and PCs are difficult to set up. With PlayStation, you can play the content you purchased as soon as you turn it on. The products are clearly displayed in the stores where you buy software, so it’s an intuitive experience.”

Of course, Sony itself is bringing its games to PC, but Nishino stresses that console remains its primary focus. “We are trying to increase the overall game market by expanding content to PCs. There is no doubt that home consoles will be the core of our business, but by offering titles for devices other than home consoles, we will reach a wider range of customers.”

What a load of horseshit. To set up and play the "content" you purchase (first time power on), you have to:
  • Connect the display
  • Connect power
  • Connect the controller
  • Select your language
  • Configure your internet connection (mandatory)
  • Accept the terms and conditions
  • Update the system software
  • Log into your PSN account (or create one)
  • Either load the disc and install the "content" to the hard drive (lol no running off the disc, are you kidding?) or go to the online store and download your "content"
  • Navigate the home page to find your "content" and press whatever buttons are needed to select and launch it
  • Accept their terms and conditions
And what is this "no ads" garbage?

Wanna tell me what percentage of this home page is dedicated to listing the shit you've paid for and have immediate access to? Oh right, it's that little tiny bar of tiny icons at top-left. The entire rest of the screen is fucking ads.

Fuck you Hideaki Nishino, you lying fucking faggot.

The final insult to me is games that offer you "quality vs performance mode" in their options. Like what the fuck if I wanted to fool around settings I would do so on an actual PC, not on a fucking plug-and-play device.

I'd much rather have options than no options. No options means leaving your experience in the hands of some asshole who picks graphics over gameplay and maybe even inverts camera controls just to be super obnoxious.

But that was always the point of a console! The assumption is that a developer can granularly tailor their game to a known hardware spec to give the player an optimal experience.

I know I sound like a broken record, but every generation of consoles from 2005 on has just been slowly reinventing the PC, except needlessly gimped.
