Mega Man General Thread - Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection announced

There's an article about it somewhere, but supposedly up until the last minute of X4 there were internal complaints that Zero felt bad to play.
Well, he kind of does in X4 but turning him into a godly powerhouse probably wasn't the best way to deal with it.

Played the X8 demake for myself
I can't compare it too much to base x8 because I haven't played it in years and I don't remember jack shit all
for a fan remake, it's really good and faithful, yea there's no axl zero or cutscenes but it's whatever, biggest positive though is reworking yeti and manowar's stages to be actual stages instead of dumb gimmicks like in the base game
the art style is impressive and gameplay feels smooth, sprite work and animations are incredible, it's overall good

my issues lie with the difficulty, it feels like a x3 situation of unbalanced, unarmed gets his ass handed to him then you get one of the chest parts that makes you immune to knockback and reduces damage so much that enemies are a joke and you can practically tank everything
also the ability to double jump and air dash twice are a bit broken, along with bambo's weapon that destroys spikes and when combined with a certain arm part makes ammo infinite is also broken(I don't mind any of this personally as you don't have to use them but I just thought it'd be worth mentioning)

the bosses are the worst offender, even with the reduced damage they still do so much with dark mantis being the worst offender, his desperation attack will practically kill you in two hits
and the gateway stage boss rematch has you fighting two bosses at once which depending on the combo you got can be a breeze or nightmare, btw you go through a little mini stage too and if you die once in them you have to do the other stage over with dark mantis and optic sunflower's parts being the worst offenders due to spikes(combined with darkness) and bottomless pits
I got up to lumine's second phase and gave up when i died as you have to fight sigma and lumine's first phase again and with empty e tanks I don't have the patience

overall, it's a fine fangame, I just think the difficulty is too much at times but beyond that it's fun for what you get especially for free

this is my exact experience, word for word. i couldn't have put it better, especially stage reworks for the two ride chaser mavericks and the damage from mantis and lumine's second forms. something i noticed and wanted to point out as a big positive from other games in the series is that the subtanks refill when you leave a stage, which i think would've been better balanced around 2 subtanks rather than 4. the hermes body, head, and boots are all incredibly powerful, as is the icarus buster part, and i was actually slightly sad not to see the ultimate armor. maybe it's in if you beat the game or something. i wish this dev great success on future shit.

the biggest compliment anyone can give this game, and it rings very true to me, is that all of the movement feels extremely accurate to how Mega Man X1-3 felt, with some movements feeling just a tiny bit better like dashing and air momentum being retained better than in a game like X3. there are a hundred mega man clones out there, and there's only one that's even come close to getting the movement exactly right, and that was mighty gunvolt burst of all games.

I noticed that too but I honestly thought or think it's a bug more than anything, unless it is intentional

Gentlemen, I bring you more glimpses of Mega Man-related developer filth, fresh from Twitter.

This fellow is apparently Atsushi Tomita, who was working on Capcom games since the 90s and was a planner on Marvel vs. Capcom 2:

For those who cannot read moonrunes, this is saying that originally, Roll (the original one that's basically a 10 year old) in Marvel vs. Capcom 2 did not have any panty shots, until Keiji Inafune himself came in and the first thing out of his mouth was apparently asking where they were.

In response to a comment, Tomita proceeds to state something that can be translated as "Eroticism is also art" using the word エロ, ero.

Tomita, who must be in his 50s by now, defends against detractors with standard lolicon defenses that she's a fictional robot, repeatedly, including in response to a rare based Jap declaring this disgusting::

I guess this explains how people like Ishikawa and Nakayama got hired.

maybe the sentiment is getting more present there as lolicon is pushed even further into the mainstream. one can hope, at least...
We could do with less old men on Twitter posting about how artistic and W it is to draw pedo shit like they are teenagers.

But yeah, I guess we should have known that Inafune (who designed her, by the way) would be the guy to push for Roll panties.

I'm gonna give Inafune the benefit of the doubt that it's just this guy misremembering a 30 year old story, because I'm pretty sure Inafune was the original artist for the series and I've never seen any official art of her with panty shots.

Inafune is one of the artists around since the first game and designed Roll, yes.

However, the original artist would be Akira Kitamura, who made Mega Man. He left the series after MM3 while Inafune stuck around.

What makes this story fairly believable is that Inafune has spontaneously said stupid sexual shit before regarding Legends Roll out of nowhere. That and Tomita has gone whole hog on it.

Has he? Legends Roll at least doesn't look like a pudgy toddler, but that's still not good... I think Miyamoto is probably the one legendary Japanese gaming icon who seems wholesome and not at all perverted. It's gonna hurt when he dies.

Yeah, Inafune is a goddamn pedophile. As is Ishikawa and Nakayama.

You kind of felt like he was, with the "I wish Roll would step on me" comment, but the panty shots thing confirms.

I just want to know, why do fans defend Inafune like he's some kind of infallible God? He's a con-artist who never refunded two Kickstarters, makes NFTs, is a pedophile, and destroyed the Mega Man series with endless sequels. You don't have to pathetically lick his boots.

Every one wants the magic back when they where 8 to 12 playing <insert Mega Man series here> game for the first time.

He was just kind of like Miyamoto or Inafune, he was a "figure head" of sorts when it came to the character. And now, like Inafune, we don't give a shit anymore.
