2023 Israel-Palestine Armed Conflict

Airstrikes in Syria last night:
Syrian media report that air defenses are engaging an alleged Israeli airstrike over the Hama area.

The pro-government Sham FM radio reports that blasts are heard across central Syria.
Syria's state-run SANA news agency cites medical officials as saying that the overnight alleged Israeli strikes in the Masyaf area killed 14 people and wounded 43 others.

Military sources cited by SANA say that the strikes hit several military sites in the area, causing material losses.

The strikes were reported to have targeted the Scientific Studies and Research Center, known as CERS or SSRC, which according to Israel, is used by Iranian forces to manufacture precision surface-to-surface missiles.

The area around Masyaf, which is thought to be used as a base for Iranian forces and pro-Iranian militias, has been repeatedly targeted in recent years in attacks widely attributed to Israel.

More Arabs are joining the IDF

Lt. Col. (res.) Hisham Abu Raya is a trailblazer. In 2008, at age 24, he became the first non-Bedouin Muslim officer in the Israeli army. Today, at age 40, he aims to be a role model for youths in his community and prove that service of the country is the key to success in Israeli society.

While military service in Israel is compulsory for Jewish young men and women, and for young men from the Druze and Circassian minorities, it is optional for all other communities. Hundreds of Bedouin enlist voluntarily each year, but other Arab Israelis — Muslim and Christian — have historically shunned the army, primarily out of solidarity with Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.

“Up until 10 years ago, you could count the number of non-Bedouin Muslim recruits in the IDF on the fingers of one hand,” Abu Raya said in a recent phone interview with The Times of Israel from his hometown of Sakhnin, in northern Israel. But today, he claims his personal story, while still exceptional, is no longer unique.

Abu Raya was discharged from the army with the rank of major in 2018, and was promoted to reserve lieutenant colonel in 2022. Today, he works as a liaison between the Home Front Command and the northern Bedouin municipality of Tuba al-Zangariya.

Immediately after his discharge in 2018, he founded “Ma’an” (meaning “together” in Arabic), a project to strengthen ties between the State of Israel and young Arab citizens and reinforce their sense of belonging.

To keep it short, arabs in Israel saw Hams murdering not just the jews on 7/10, but everyone they came across. Did not matter if they were muslims etc.
There is also problem with gang violence among arab youth and they see becoming part of IDF as a chance to escape that.

Airstrike targeting terrorists underground in Khan Younis:

The IDF says the targets of the overnight airstrike in the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in southern Gaza were three senior Hamas operatives.

They are named by the military as Samer Ismail Khader Abu Daqqa, the head of Hamas's aerial forces; Osama Tabash, the head of surveillance and targets in Hamas's intelligence division; and Ayman Mabhouh, another senior Hamas officer.

All three were "directly involved in the October 7 massacre" and other attacks on troops in Gaza and against Israel in recent months.

The military says it took steps to mitigate harm to civilians in the strike, including "lengthy intelligence gathering" and continuous aerial surveillance in the hours before the attack, "in a way that verified the presence [of the targets] in the area alongside other terrorists."

Hamas authorities claimed that 40 people were killed and 60 were injured in the attack.

The IDF deputes the claim, saying that "in general, and according to a preliminary review, the numbers published by the Hamas-run Government Information Office in Gaza, which has consistently broadcast lies and false information throughout the war, do not align with the information held by the IDF, the precise munitions used, and the accuracy of the strike."

"Despite the extensive measures taken by the IDF to enable the Gazan population to move away from combat zones, including by designating a humanitarian area, the Hamas terrorist organization continues to embed its operatives and military infrastructure in the humanitarian area and systematically use Gazan civilians as a human shield for its terrorist activities," the military adds.

Australian man discusses Israeli censorship and deliberate misunderstanding of language.
Is there a tl;dw for this zoomer butterface? From jumping around the video it just sounds like the usual journos/aristocracy "it's doxxing when it happens to us", which isn't unique to Israel/Jews, and I don't understand if there's even a connection to Israeli military rather than journos doing gayops over eachother.

DMs of a Whatsapp group were leaked that harbored very pro-Israeli messages so of course people started doxing members of the chat. Members of the chat started having threats sent to them and are now they are considering suing the NYT for publishing the leaked messages. Aussie tries to argue that this is censorship on behalf of Israel and doesn't mention the fact that they're names address and contact info were also leaked. There, you don't have to listen to the smug cunt make bad jokes and kvetch about Israeli war crimes for 12 and half minutes.

The commander of Hamas's Tel Sultan Battalion in the Rafah Brigade was killed in an Israeli drone strike several weeks ago.

Mahmoud Hamdan was killed alongside three company commanders in the Tel Sultan Battalion, the IDF says.

Additional strikes killed several more top commanders in the battalion, along with dozens of operatives.

The IDF says Hamdan took a "significant part" in planning the October 7 onslaught, and was involved in other attacks amid the ongoing war.

Babe, wake up. New massacre just dropped.
Bisan is frothing at the mouth over the opportunity to capitalize on bombing. She can’t even settle on one name for it.

Hamas/Gazan news instantly reported upwards of 40 fatalities.
IMG_0519.jpeg
As with any sensational Palestinian story, give it a little time and the lie will fall apart.

This source is from a news curator who has been proven to be very reliable, but I’m sure the story will be picked up elsewhere soon enough.

I recall the evidence of the IDF warhead at Al Ahli Hospital similarly melted away when people started asking questions.

Eta: Bisan Al-Owda is a big name in the Hamas propaganda machine. She is a PLFP terrorist who larps as a grassroots Gazan influencer. She has a large western Instagram following and her family is on Hamas payroll, if not her herself.

We see the impact site but what about the thing next to it? It looks like a trench nearly as deep and 3 or 4 craters long. Not much impact signs either.. Collapsed underground space? They show it slowly so it seems to be something worth note.
It could be a tunnel collapsing. Those things are everywhere in the strip.

Israel destroyed reported Iranian underground missile factory in Syria ground raid

An elite Israel Defense Forces unit conducted a highly unusual raid in Syria earlier this week and destroyed an underground precision missile factory that Israel and the U.S. claim was built by Iran, according to three sources briefed on the operation.
Why it matters: Israeli airstrikes on Syria have increased since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel as cross-border conflicts between Hezbollah and Israel intensified. But the raid on Sunday was the first ground operation the IDF has conducted in recent years against Iranian targets in Syria.
  • The destruction of the factory appears to be a significant blow to an effort by Iran and Hezbollah to produce precision medium-range missiles on Syrian soil.
  • The Israeli government has stayed unusually silent about it and didn't claim responsibility in order not to provoke a retaliation by Syria, Iran or Hezbollah, sources said.
  • Spokespersons for the IDF, Israel's Ministry of Defense and the Prime Minister's Office declined to comment.
Driving the news: Syrian state media and Syria's opposition organization reported heavy airstrikes by the Israeli Air Force on Sunday night local time in several areas of western Syria, including near the city of Masyaf, which is close to the border with Lebanon.
  • State media said at least 16 people were killed and 40 others were injured, and condemned the airstrikes as "blatant aggression." The Iranian foreign ministry also condemned the attack, calling it "criminal."
  • On Wednesday, a Syrian opposition television channel and Greek Middle East expert Eva J. Koulouriotis both reported the airstrikes were a cover for an Israeli ground operation in Masyaf.
  • Three sources with knowledge of the operation confirmed to Axios that the IDF top elite unit Sayeret Matkal conducted a raid and destroyed the facility.
Zoom in: Two sources said Israel briefed the Biden administration in advance of the sensitive operation and the U.S. didn't oppose it. The White House didn't respond to a request for comment.
  • The Israeli special unit surprised the Syrian guards at the facility and killed several of them during the raid, but no Iranians or Hezbollah militants were hurt, one source said.
  • The special forces used explosives they brought with them in order to blow up the underground facility, including sophisticated machinery, from inside, two sources said.
  • The airstrikes were intended to prevent the Syrian military from sending re-enforcements to the area, one source said.
Behind the scenes: Two sources with direct knowledge told Axios the Iranians began building the underground facility in coordination with Hezbollah and Syria in 2018 after a series of Israeli airstrikes destroyed most of the Iranian missile production infrastructure in Syria.
  • According to the sources, the Iranians decided to build an underground factory deep inside a mountain in Masyaf because it would be impenetrable to Israeli air strikes.
  • The sources claimed the Iranian plan was to produce the precision missiles in this protected facility near the border with Lebanon so that the delivery process to Hezbollah in Lebanon could take place quickly and with less risk of Israeli airstrikes.
  • Israeli intelligence services discovered the building process and monitored it for more than five years under the code name "Deep Layer". The Israelis realized they would not be able to destroy the facility with an airstrike and would need a ground operation, one of the sources said.
  • The Israeli military considered conducting the operation at least twice in recent years but it wasn't approved because of the high risk, one source said.

The IRGC and Hezzbollah are not going out like this one bit.

That said it's not a jet r&d hub, those are all in Iran.

This was just a local production facility that has been pumping out rockets and drones for years

What's Iran to do? They haven't even responded to the assassination on their soil. I have it on excellent authority that within Iran, it is a known fact that the country is basically compromised with either outright Mossad agents running around without being caught or (realistically) people who hate the regime so much that they are willing to work with the Mossad to undermine it.

whats taken israel so long to beat hamas. Hamas is a rag tag milita completly encircled by israel, their only benefactor is iran which is super corrupt and in a bad place. Israel on the other hand is getting paid billions by america and is still not able to take out hamas after a year.

You could have said the same about the US and the Viet Cong, except Isreal is winning this one.
