Not that I expect anyone here to agree with me, but US support for Ukraine after the EU bungled its support of Euromaidan has been quiet, but substantial. We now are in a position where backing away from Ukraine now would leave a country we've supported for the past 10 years to the tender mercies of Russia. Backing out would damage our reputation, especially after the horrible Afghanistan withdrawal.

I support some sort of peace deal, the amount of death in the Ukraine War has been truly breathtaking, and the scale of monetary support for Ukraine is not sustainable, but there is a silver lining here: the US and NATO learned a lot about Russia's modern warfighting strategies, hardware, and capabilities - with zero American soldiers killed (at least none officially). I call that a bargain. However, I am also consistently hawkish, so take me with that coarse grain of salt.
It's not a bargain to find out America can't make enough 155mm rounds or deploy hundreds of F-35 en masse to overwhelm Russian Air Defense or find that the only Americans that wants war is Congress and not the actual people of the country.

Lest we forget...

"I am so sorry to my world"; there are people in this country who honestly believed - and still believe - that Donald Trump being in power is an existential threat to humanity.
That's what bothers me so much. If the media and influential people, as well as politicians, hadn't been vilifying him for nearly eight years, calling him 'Orange Man Bad' and comparing him to Hitler, I don't think there would be nearly as many death threats against him or assassination attempts. I'm not saying there isn't political violence, but there's no need for our institutions to be inciting it and doing everything they can to instigate it.

When the glowies activate people like Penn shooter and this guy its not "x person on y date". Its more like them lighting fires in a area where they know there are fuses.

By all accounts the SS did their job by the book against this guy and media lock down wasnt there compared to Penn shooter (this may be Florida locals versus the Penn ones and Florida not playing as much ball)

All this to say this guy might be blowback from the initial agitation that activated Penn shooter. As far as itinaries go. Its probably pretty easy for the locals to know Trump is home and the guy probably plays religiously on Sundays when he is home. Thing is the guy wasnt a local.....

The attempted assassin ID hasn't yet broken into the mainstream local news cycle yet.
I kind of wonder how the Feds are going to handle going through his house. Kaaawa is a very small town, the only real road is the highway going through it, and he lives right on the highway. No way to close it off without shutting off access to half the North Shore.

Fun fact, if you put his address into Google maps, and turn the camera a bit, you can see part of Kualoa Valley, where they filmed Jurassic Park among other things.

I guess the shooter split away from the family when his mental health started going south, moved to Hawaii and then was addicted to current thing issues. Starting with solving homeless issues in Hawaii with box sheds, then fixing Worst Korea, Joining the Ukraine civillian army and then deciding he needed to shoot Trump to save the world.
Looks like he was trying to go to the front lines in Ukraine as a soldier as recently as May. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if they politely told him the best way to help Ukraine would be to stay in the US and make sure Trump didn't become President (whether they wanted him to take that literally or not).
