We love to think that we are enlightened in Current Year, but the truth is that the last century or so of peace and plenty is an unprecedented historical anomaly.

The amusing thing being that literally as the news broke about the assassination attempt, the talking heads were on air blaming Trump's "violent rhetoric" for ratcheting up the "temperature of the nation" or what have you.

It's all so tiresome. Trump won the primaries by a lot, no republican voter is going to try and kill him. Besides, how does it make sense that the guy is inciting violence yet that violence is only done against him? It's completely asinine. These people hate your guts. Will anyone do anything though? I agree that America is extremely divided at this point but at the same time its hard to know if the right will do anything if another rigged election happens. Even setting aside the idea of igniting something, there's a part of me that wonders if the right is afraid that they wont have a lot of support and lose.

I would say the big item preventing most people from doing anything is comfort and having "too much to loose". Its why all of us have foolishly put up with too much for too long. We are afraid to give up what we believe to be our safe comfortable lifestyle, or put our jobs, businesses and property in danger. A 19th century farmer who could die anyday from illness or injury or starve from a bad crop year could more easily justify taking up arms and marching off to war. This is not an excuse for our laziness and fear but an explanation.

Economic collapse combined with threats to safety and security (caused by third world invaders) in what were once normal safe towns and neighborhoods can greatly put the realization in normal peoples heads that they are running out of things to loose.

As many of you have said I dont think we are truly realizing just how precarious things are right now, both within this country and on the world stage.
