Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

I'm FB acquaintances with a lolcow (middle aged coke addict/alcoholic, emotionally immature and entitled) who has a neurotic husky she never walks (just let's him out in the yard) that ended up digging under her fence to get to a neighbors kittens and proceeded to eat them. She made a video of her and her boyfriend berating the dog, and saying he didn't deserve to come on vacation with them to their other property in the state as if the ugly could understand any of it and they weren't actually at fault.

Post it or it didn’t happen

You say this like a neurotic husky owned by mouth breathing retards is a rare occurrence. It's practically the norm, unfortunately.

That being said, if the vid exists, DisSys is a faggot for telling us about it instead of just embedding the video.
Unfortunately I didn't screen record it and I'm not reactivating my FB to retrieve it. Have a consolation one of the same retard trying to film a TikTok trend of saying your dogs favorite words for their reaction, and the dog has zero to the word walk bc she never takes him on them.

Having a working breed and then forcing them to be sedentary is actual animal cruelty. They've been bred for and actually need to do the useful thing their breed was made for.

And then these retards eventually take them out, have nowhere to go, and so find their way to my private greenbelt, stand right by the "Private Owners Only" sign while they flip balls lazily from that stupid plastic stick and the dog noisily scampers back and forth until I decide to have an unpleasant interaction with the dog owner.
Word on the street is that I'm heartless and a busybody.

They've never heard of a flirt pole? Those are crack for psycho dogs.

BALTIMORE —
Roughly one year after being charged as a co-defendant in a multi-year, multi-state, federal dogfighting case, 63-year-old Frederick Moorefield Jr., from Arnold, pleaded guilty in federal court.

Friday's plea comes around a year after Moorefield left his job as a top Pentagon official. The trial in the dogfighting case was scheduled to begin next month on Oct. 14.

Moorefield did not want to talk as he walked out of U.S. District Court after pleading guilty to two counts in his federal dogfighting case.

Count one is conspiracy to engage in animal fighting and count nine is a racketeering charge.

The judge accepted the guilty pleas after hearing federal prosecutors lay out their proof, including dogs found locked in cages in a windowless basement room, a "jumper cable device" used to electrocute dogs that could no longer fight, a bloody rug that served as the floor of the dogfighting ring, and his online dogfighting handle "Geehad Kennels."

Moorefield left his post when the case was charged in September 2023 and said the rest of the charges will be dismissed when he's sentenced on Dec. 2.

Moorefield said he does not plan on commenting during the sentencing hearing.

The statutory maximum for each count is five years. The federal sentencing guidelines in the case suggest between one to one-and-a-half years, "Which will certainly expose you to time in prison," the judge warned.

Moorefield is allowed to remain out on bond and under supervised release at his daughter's home in Owings Mills.

In case you wonder why these asshole dogs don't get put down, apparently the people in charge of doing euthanasia at animal shelters won't put an animal down if they feel the behavior is typical for the breed, even if the animal is biting other dogs, snapping at young children, and chasing livestock. This is about a German Shepherd but imagine the same for a nanny dog.
This is actually somewhat shocking to me as experiences indicate that shelter workers and vets will happily put down an animal for any reason whatsoever provided it isn't a pit bull. This is why if you need to euth a pit, the best option is doing it yourself with Kurt Cobain's favorite microphone or by asking to witness the euthanasia yourself at the clinic.

If you bring a pit to a vet for euthanasia, they understandably need a reason why, and of course you'll say it's behavioral. But unfortunately, even if your response is, "this dog literally slaughtered my other two dogs I had before him for zero reason," there is a nonzero chance they'll just take the pit to a back kennel. They will ship it to the closest shelter when the coast is clear so the dog who was "failed by his previous owners" or "only nipped because he was provoked" can have a "third fourth fifth second chance."

What the everliving fuck is wrong with these assholes?

I mean, the difference between pitbulls and GSDs and types used for police/military is that police/military dogs are trained to do things ON COMMAND. They're usually originally bred (or still are) shepherd/farm dogs, i.e. working dogs that are very trainable and look to their handlers for guidance. You can theoretically train a lot of different breeds to the same work but GSDs and malinois are the go tos because from what I understand they're less pricier and easier to source than some other breeds. Malinois also have a good size to ability ratio making them easier to move around but still get the job done. There are a lot of breeds that also can be trained to be personal protection dogs. A protective instinct needs to be there but it's the intelligence and training that have the final say too.

Pit bulls and the like were not bred with the need to be trainable and listen to their handler. Put simply to go balls to the wall after the bull or other dog with ferocity. Blindly attacking is an instinct and temperament that has been selected for--this is what makes them so dangerous.

GSDs and the four belgian shepherd breeds were also bred, like almost all other dog breeds, to be naturally friendly to humans unless trained not to be. pit bulls were and are bred to be instinctively vicious and that's what they are unless they are trained not to be. and that vicious instinct has been bred so deeply that training isn't even a half-guarantee that they won't suddenly tear anything they can get in their mouths to shreds "for no reason"

These people DO realize that we domesticated dogs literally by systematically culling the ones which were aggressive towards humans… right??

Plenty of dog breeds were bred to be aggressive, including towards humans. If they weren't, then we wouldn't have aggressive dog breeds.

We need a separate thread on this shit, as everything pitnutters do, I saw general dog people do.

Have nothing against dogs themselves, but that stuff gets gross.
I think a general pet nutter/culture thread would do

I like animals as much as the next guy and pets are cool but holy fuck is the culture surrounding it and things people do appalling

I second a Dog Culture thread. I argued with a woman the other day who was chewing out a family who had to rehome a dog after losing their job/home/work visa and being forced to move back overseas. This crazy b word was telling them “would you ABANDON your CHILD like this!!!”

It’s like dude… they’re suffering enough already… they definitely already feel really fucking bad about having to give up their pet… Jesus fucking Christ.

Exporting animals to certain countries isn't cheap either. I've known Australians who were quoted between 5-10k to bring a dog back with them which was deterrent enough to keep them from getting one at all while they were abroad for several years.
