Sony hate thread

And see my screed about Nintendo being the only ones who are profitable right now earlier. So if Nintendo turns off the lights, that’s the end of the industry. Period. It'll still keep going on the PC, since PC being an open platform seems to give it some immunity, but console gaming will be well and fully dead at that point.
As anemic as Nintendo is, they do adapt a forward-thinking strategy with their product launches. They considered the Nintendo DS a "third pillar" from their Game Boy Advance and GameCube IF the DS failed to attract an audience. For the Wii U's failings, it did inspire Nintendo to create their powerhouse known as the Switch. Let's not forget that the Wii sold like hotcakes during the seventh generation despite its inferiority from the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Chief among Nintendo's success in the console market are their exclusives and low barrier entry for consumers and families. Let's pivot back to Call of Duty. Nintendo did not need Call of Duty on their platforms. But, Activision wanted to capitalize on the surprise install base of the Wii/DS. They can afford to experiment from their established goodwill. Sony/Microsoft are approaching diminishing returns with their gaming strategies.

I remember when Sony had mascots from the PS1/PS2 eras through more intensive platformers (Crash, Ratchet, Sly) leading into a more mature audience with Uncharted, Killzone, God of War. Now, they don't have ANYTHING to sell their PlayStation brand themselves. Third parties can only get you so far when you can get those offerings elsewhere as well. Sony is not even "family-friendly" anymore; they're appeasing to the lowest common denominator: the blind, loyal consumer. It's only a matter of time before that bubble bursts.

The PS4 still has a bunch of cross gen stuff out right now (although i'm not sure if 2K and FIFA is on PS4 and Xbox One still)
Yea lmao, there was a huge kerfuffle all over twitch and twitter about CoD MWIII being for the PS4 near the end of 2023. So many people were expecting that game to be one of the main drivers that would force players to move from the PS4 to the PS5.

To make matters worse, they're even making Black Ops 6 to still run on the PS4 lmao. I consider it pretty damning that not even fucking ACTIVISION has enough confidence to develop a game for the PS5 generation exclusively.

Y'know, I thought the same too, until the PS5 Pro released, and normies were also absolutely dumbfounded at the price. Most of said normies still play on last gen. Truth is, they only care about two things: If it's cheap, and it has all the popular shit. PS4 still has a bunch of cross gen stuff out right now (although i'm not sure if 2K and FIFA is on PS4 and Xbox One still)
EA lost the FIFA license after FIFA 23 but they just renamed the series EA Sports FC 24, which is on the PS4, Xbox One, and even the Switch. What I'm referring to is that the console market won't ever die, it will always exist. The person I was responding to argued that the console market is basically dead if Nintendo ever bows out but it could still exist in a fetid state, with the fucking PS4 having PS2-tier life support where they release the 2037 edition of 2K on the PS4.
Probably. It's gonna be a Saturn moment if Switch 2 doesn't have 3D Mario there day 1. I know they can't flood the market with heavy hitters all at once, but it better be a packed launch year. I'll be really disappointed if there's no 3D Zelda too, and no, Tears of the DLC doesn't count as the true latest 3D Zelda.
Yeah, it would be their biggest blunder if they don't have a 3D Mario waiting to be released. Mario 8 was a Wii U title and they just ported it over to the Switch, called it Deluxe while giving it some other stuff, and then it sold 62 million copies. There's no way we don't get a Mario Kart 9 in year 1 or at least heavily showcased and being presented as an early 2026 launch game.

We're going to have those multiplatform games to lure people over to the new system while still offering support to the Switch like BOTW or Twilight Princess. Instead of a Zelda games, its going to end up being the newest Pokemon game they already advertised (Pokemon Legends: Z-A) and Metroid Prime 4.

It's really bad if you look at their history too. They kept 7th gen support when they released their first game on the 8th gen (Ghosts) and continued that multigen support for 2 more games (Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3). Infinite Warfare is where they finally dropped 7th gen support, so it took them 2013 (Ghosts) to 2016 (IW).

Meanwhile 9th gen support started with Black Ops Cold War in 2020 and it had 8th gen support. They've kept multigen support for 4 more games (Vanguard, MW2, MW3, and now Black Ops 6). We're hitting 5 games of multigen support across 5 years.

The PS4 will have a greater legacy than it was suppose to purely because the PS5 was so fucking trash that they're still releasing games for the PS4.

I don't know where all of this PS4 bashing is coming from. It has a games library of both original and remastered games from decades ago, it has a working bluray drive, it can connect to a gimped games network, it can stream, it can share clips and images, it does not require a Pratt&Whitney turbofan engine to run, and most importantly does not cost fucking $800.

I don't see why they are even releasing such a dumb product. Least appealing option(ps5, ps4, switch, pc, etc) and I doubt it will make them money. The p5 pro is likely going to lose money or just break even like the base ps5 once you take into consideration r&d and more expensive specs despite the the 200$ price bump, maybe it will make a whole 20$ on each console sold. Maybe they are banking on retards buying 500x stands and disk drives to make money.

The ps5 somehow being worse does not magically fix the numerous issues the ps4 had.

The PS4 couldn't even run games at a consistent 24 fps and still relied on upscaling while failing to maintain any stable frame rate. On top of that, the original games that were originally exclusive for it sucked (except for Bloodborne if you were into souls games). It was also the first playstation to charge for online and drop any backwards compatibility. The PS2 and PS3 could run PS1 games and some PS3s could run PS2 games (some models had the hardware and some others could do it through emulation). The PS4 can't run any older games without having to rebuy them digitally even if you have a physical copy. Even the PS2 games sold digitally for the PS3 (like Midnight club street racing) won't run on the PS4.

Blogpost.

Some new niggercattle recruits turned up at work yesterday bragging about how much they spend in COD, Fortnite etc on skins. Both mid 20's gen z faggots with more money than sense. Both admitted to spending thousands of pounds on skins, lootboxes and weapons to "be better than everyone else", then admitted they only play the games for a few month "before people get better than me with equipment", then they quit.
Anyway, overhearing this conversation in the canteen I wanted to blow my fucking brains out, but it was interesting that they both said they only game on PS5, though neither have touched it for months and the PS5pro was too expensive.

>Will spend thousands on pointless skins and lootboxes
>PS5pro too expensive.

Sony have really fucked it.

I would say those guys got fucked more, mentally.

People also tend to forget how abysmally the ps4 ran bloodborne. Drops into the high teens weren't uncommon in Yharnam, and even when you could get it technically running at 30fps, there were the frame pacing issues too.

I wonder if shame because of this is the reason Bloodbourne has STILL not received a PC port to this day dispite high demand? Hell the game is only a few months away from fully playable under emulation ffs.

Another reason why I hate whole “reveal” that PS4 could play used games.
>”Look at this incredibly basic feature that every previous console had! We don’t nickel and dime you like Micro$oft!”
>”btw Playstation Plus will now be required for online, we took the idea from Microsoft :)

ShadPS4 is still early in development and it already manages to run Bloodborne, It has a lot of graphical issues but the fact remains that there is a working emulator of the PS4 while the console itself is still commercially available . Sony's choice of using off the shelve x86_64 architecture from the PS4 onward just made it so much easier for programmers to emulate all current and future PlayStation systems moving forwards. Either Sony removes all restrictions regarding PSN for their future PC ports or in the end it won't matter because emulators and pirates are going to offer the same content with less inconveniences.

I'm sure Nintendo would sell more units if they made Mario and Zelda games multi-platform, but it would dramatically reduce the value of their own platform.
Nintendo operates as a toy company that puts out a video game machine that is capable of running the video games they want to make, and allow others to publish on it. They do not care about making any kind of universal game platform like Xbox or PlayStation. This design philosophy has served them very well over the years.

I think that's about as simple as it gets. If they quit making consoles all together, I'm certain Nintendo would start manufacturing more of those Game & Watch dedicated machines like the Mario and Zelda ones.

PS4 has a really shitty HDD that takes forever to load games and still plays most games at 30FPS, not to mention a lot of games were terribly optimized on the console and still had lots of dropped frames and screen tearing, Doom '16 Far Cry 4 and the Borderlands Collection were good examples of that.

My favorite feature of the PS4 was when people would remove a panel from it and find all the german cockroaches in their house living in there.
Which I feel is a damning revelation about PS4 owners.
