Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

The lingering elephant in the room is that the Brazilian company TecToy stopped manufacturing the Sega Genesis last year. We've all been waiting to see how Nintendo responds to that vacuum, and we may have our answer soon enough. Perhaps Nintendo is cancelling the Switch 2 and bringing the SNES back onto the market.

I hope you’re right, but increasing specs would mean a whole lot of new testing to make sure every little thing works right, for both Nintendo and third parties. Then again, Nintendo increased the Switch’s RAM when Capcom requested it early on, so I’m hoping they’ve taken this time to really figure out what everyone wants before committing. Not that third parties are everything for Nintendo, but stronger hardware would benefit their own games, too.
Nintendo is not completely unreasonable. They will listen to suggestion from the bigger 3rd parties at least and Capcom has pull. I think (and hope) that the whole "Only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo platforms" motto is truly dead (as it should be after the Wii U). Imo, a good strategy is releasing enough first party games to attract an initial playerbase (which will ensure a constant stream of potential customers for the 3rd parties) and then limit the 1st party games to the 3rd droughts, holidays and summer vacations. That way no one is stepping on any toes.

Don't a lot of Switch sales come from repeat buyers now? You'd think they'd already have MK8 if so, it seems like a bad idea for pack-in at this point. They'd be better off putting in Mario Wonder or TotK, that would move units much better, and those games aren't brand new anymore even though they're still selling (I mean MK8 is still selling too, so why not?).

And not having a Switch Lite bundle is stupid as well. They really don't want that to sell I guess, so why bring it to market?

Please don't let this guy anywhere near Nintendo.

Cheap alternative to initial Switch. As to why not wanting it to sell any more. Probably got feedback that not being able to dock ot/take the joycons off was bad. It’s not actually as easily carriable as a Switch oddly enough which is normally one of the selling points for marketing towards kids for them.

In fairness they pretty much already do limit 1st party games to those time periods already. Which was one of the Wii U’s problems.

MK8 WiiU had a 60% attach rate. 8 million copies sold for 13.5 million consoles.

On switch that would be 80! million MK8 copies. They probably figure they can match the WiiU attach rate.

Switch lite has random sales all the time. Walmart was selling them for $150 last month.

Not saying they should release absolutely nothing in other times but Nintendo games can sometimes overshadow 3rd parties to an extend. Mario, Zelda, Metroid and of course Pokemon will be threatening to other games releases. Nintendo games feel like an event. You have to keep that one in mind. Plus Nintendo is kinda doing it right now. As things are, both 1st party games and 3rd party ones sell gangbusters on the Switch without problem.

The Wii U had many problems. Those problems worsened one another. The Wii U had confusing marketing for one and only got the must-have titles later in its life as opposed to early.

If you have two you can play wireless with other people in you house. So for example, if there was a really killer deal on a Switch Lite with Mario Kart, my wife and I could play it together with our own separate screens instead of sharing the TV.

You know, I miss the DS Download Play function. You could play some multiplayer games using just a single cart, but I guess Nintendo got greedy somewhere along the line.

It probably made a lot more sense for Nintendo on DS since two players couldn't share a DS like they can a Switch.

Does two player portable multiplayer with one player per joycon work and the Switch as a screen actually work well? Fuck no, but Nintendo probably likes to pretend that it does.

True, it's much more of a novelty than something practical, but I hope they improve on that idea for Switch 2.

I saw someone post an idea for Switch 2 that was basically like a DS but it comes apart so another person can use the second screen. I wonder how possible or cost effective that'd be.

It has zero possibility of working because of tv mode. They are not making a Wii U 2.

New NSO stuff just dropped.

Why would those two things be incompatible?
Nintendo is not switching back to the Wii U second screen on controller style. Fans fucking hated it. Ergo they aren't going to be able to design a two screen experience for handheld mode because games have to work on both. Ergo they aren't going to pack in a second screen on the device that has zero gameplay use.

I remember hearing the original rumor about it a few months ago and it was Nintendo On level obvious bullshit.

Going over the flaws of the Wii U would take forever, so I'll just say that what wasn't a flaw is the dual screen concept in and of itself, it was primarily Wii U's execution which was at fault (and it failed for other reasons aside from the GamePad too).
