So are we to assume gay people are psychic now and know if someone is trans if he has a crush on a woman? I've never seen Gravity Falls, but my guess is that this artist is desperate for this kid to be canonically gay, but because he has a crush on this woman means that the artist has to cope with the idea that she must secretly be a trans man in order for their fantasy that this kid is gay is to be canon.

Dipper absolutely isn't gay. He's crushed only on Wendy for the whole show, and is implied to develop feelings for another female character (Pacifica) in subsequent materials as well.

But yeah, this whole art reeks of the whole "gay people must validate gaydens' pooner identities by legitimately being attracted to them" cope. Not as bad as the transbian's creepy behaviour, but still. To them, sexual attraction must follow their self declared identity politics.

Chiming in as a Gravity Falls fan. Within the show, there's a long arc that focuses on Dipper's crush on Wendy, which starts pretty early on in the series. The crux of the arc is that Dipper is 12 and Wendy is 15, so the latter sees him more as a nice friend to hang out with and sees him as just a little too young for her to actually date. This leads to a lot of episodes where Dipper tries to impress her or sabotage her relationship with another teen. They don't end up together but still remain friends.

As for why the art exists, it's probably two reasons: Dipper isn't very masculine and Wendy is a tomboy. The former is often headcannoned as trans and/or gay because he's not manly and it's a point of insecurity for him. The latter doesn't get a ton of fanart that I've noticed, but she's a tomboy within the show. This leads to fanart like that: Wendy goes "why is this gay boy crushing on me, a girl?" only to "realize" that she's trans and has been a boy all along.

In all honesty the designs aren't exactly super offensive even with the race swaps, just dump the idpol and needing to know their ethnicities bullshit and I say we're good. The real question is why didn't they include the fat kid and make him pro-body choice or something?

Some of the race choices have funny racial implications though, given the backstories of the kids. Having the poor white kid who lives in a single room house, where his grandparents all share one bed become South American of all things is a bit of an immigrant-y stereotype. Having the rude, selfish, thinks she's better than everyone to the point she ignores the owner of the factory when he tells her to not keep chewing the gum white girl become black is also just funny to think about. Also half Chinese kid that likes technology. Also the Koreans hate the Japanese (and vice versa) so mixed kids of those races are not super common, even in the west, and are usually bullied terribly by both sides.

The continued cycle of artists and them unintentionally stereotyping characters via race will never not be funny.

As I said a long while back, once the whole conflict loses that juice for grifters and the media, the Palestinians will once again be that ethnic group people will forget even existed as they move towards another country with an ethnicity they didn't know existed until the news media told them about it and spam the same song and dance there.

It's a never-ending cycle and I'm glad I never felt bad for not 24/7 engaging with issues from a country almost 7,000 miles from me that doesn't affect my life whatsoever. I can feel bad but what else you want me to do? Boycott a multibillion-dollar company whose profits won't be hurt whatsoever if even a million Twitter users stopped eating at McDonalds? Spam press that "arab.org" button? I can only just say "Man, that sucks..." and go back to my own life. It sucks but that's how it is. But these artists can't understand that.

It's lousy pandering, all emotions and no solution. They know they can't magically save Palestinians from Hamas or Israel but they don't care. All that matters is the feeling of "doing their part" and "not being silent" about one of the dozens of ongoing genocides and war crimes going on in this world that we're told to care about 24/7 lest we're compliant with Israel bombing babies into mush or something—I don't know.

Should've just stopped right there. Remember that a slightly less masculine dude or slightly less feminine woman equates to being trans-coded. There's no other explanation than them stereotyping them off of one trait and then making fifty headcanons about it.

Thing is sjw can't and don't want to make ocs because of 2 reasons
1. More attention, ocs don't gather a lot of attention but i will explain that in depth later paragraph to not make it overly long so they grab onto the current thing or franchise and self project (headcanon) their insecurities onto them because they know it gives attention.
2. They are insecure and think ocs won't be liked or don't want to face with idea that their beloved ocs/ stories could fail so why not hop onto bandwagon of redesign? They are so insecure that even in fanworks they drop random memes and shitposts in animations just like how marvel character says "he's right behind me isn't he?" to make sure that they are 100 ironic and on the joke and not genuine. Despite the fact that all of this is their fault

Internet i believe is overcrowded with fanart which causes art community to basically do inbreeding of same art styles until it basically generates perfectly generic art style/ ocs that are acceptable for "current thing" . We live in age where everyone claims to be different and unique yet they consume 5 same franchises and games that youtubers/e celebs recommend and never try and reach themselves into something new. There is too much overabundance of good artists making slop and not enough of original creators. Even those who take upon that either get pressured to fit standards or copy current thing because the art circles are maximizing at chasing attention and repetition to pull zoomers and tumblr trannies in rather than making something good.

With the recent "draw your own miku" type of trends I found this on twitter

I gotta admit the artstyle is quite unique but not really in a good way.

I decided to look a little bit more from this artist to torture myself. Every post was worse than the last. Is all ugly, racist caricatures of blacks and over-designed characters with saturated ugly colors with an artstyle that tries so hard to be cool and quirky by putting so many unecesary details. Thankfully most of the images by this artist are OCS and not bastardized versions of other characters, at least I'll give them that.

I had seen this and other illogical crap being threated as factual multiple times, to an extent that, if you date somebody and they trannify, you are retroactively gay for that and should "question your identity".

it really piss me off how they reduce marcille's desires to be all about falin. Her very first goal was to bridge the gap between the different human races so that none has the power over the others. And while her primal motivation was to keep her loved ones by her side, that includes laios and the others members of the party, not just falin. She doesn't even single out falin or anything. It isn't about "falin and the others" but every single of her friends individualy. Her desires are enormous and complex which is why the lion took an interest in her in the first place. If her desires could be summed up by "I wanna save my gf ;_;" the lion wouldn't have given her a second glance.

These are the same people who go on and on about the value of different kinds of relationships and queer platonic polycules and found families or whatever. Yet the only thing they care about at the end of the day is who's fucking who. To the point of them seeing close friendships as basically confirmation that those characters are gay for each other.

This is an issue with fandom in general though, where they basically stop caring about the actual story being told and just project what they want onto it.
