The Super Best Friends Super Best Griefing Thread - Matt's a cuck, Liam is a bitch, Pat's a loony and Woolie's Way is now trademarked

Half-listening to the latest podcast episode (286) and Woolie is still doing that thing where he makes a very obscure, specific reference to something, and giggling to himself while doing it.

I mean, Pat is still my favorite. That's just not saying much at this point.
Pat is the kind of character that can work well within a group dynamic and even be the most entertaining and/or favorite member of it. But on their own, that kind of people becomes insufferable.

For example, there's this video podcast about books (and movies often, and anime sometimes) I've been listening to for a little while, 2ToRamble. It's just two guys talking about books and stories, one is a pretty normal guy, kinda geeky but seemingly well-adjusted. The other one tho, is just PAT. Same smug self-importance. Same unjustified, outrageous definitive statements. He even looks like Pat. Only slightly less boisterous, probably on account of his voice being more nasal and less potent than Pat's. But if you squint your ears a bit, you could imagine this is what Pat would be if he wasn't an ignorant retard.
And I enjoy the dynamic between these two guys, they play well off of each other.

But on his own, this guy reviewing books? I'd hate him. The other one would be a bit bland, but he could pull it off.
Pat guy? No way. Insufferable.

Woolie has finally reached 200k subs. I get the feeling this will be the last subscriber video he ever makes.

Celebration Video:
Well since I checked the social blade and noticed woolie gains about 10k subs every 18 months his 300k subscriber video will just be in about 15 years. So not long at all and definitely not a sad statement on how shitty his channel is especially since he only barely breaks 10k views on a good day for his videos.

After seeing Woolie hit the 200k milestone on his youtube channel I decided to go check out the latest stream they did. And I just have to think to myself who is watching this? The stream is half dino crisis a mid tier 25 year old survival horror game that woolie doesn't care about aside from being a capcom game. And astro bot a celebration of all things playstation but specifically a nod to the 3d playstation platformers which the best friends all skipped over since they only play nintendo or sega platformers. All of this while giving the most half alive brain dead comments that makes me think woolie is one step away from suicide.

Sorry if it comes off as ranty but man this is just fucking sad at this point. I sat through some of the low energy and painful lps on the channel but none ever hit this level of terrible quality. Like I just wonder how does Woolie continue thinking this is in anyway passable and that both him and Pat aren't just one step above DSP at this point.

That's honestly a pretty apt description of both Pat & Woolie's context post Best Friends. Tired, snappy, & only appealing to people who cling to faded glory like a sloth to its mother's back. It's all the more frustrating when you realize that both of them are independently wealthy enough to move on to greener pastures. However, they don't know what else to do with their lives so they're just going to spend the rest of their days melting in front of computer screens, while providing the most brain dead commentary imaginable

As for who watches this stuff, my theory is that it's just losers who need to live vicariously through Pat & Woolie's careers. Those viewers probably started their own YouTube channels, and didn't make any progress striking out on their own whatsoever. So seeing Chewie & Fuckface still power on like 2010 wasn't 14 years ago, instills a feeling that there's an art to this medium rather than a piggy bank that is providing less and less returns each time it is broken. The viewers are the equivalent of people who's peak was high school, and are still working the same dead end job at Walmart because they don't have anything else to do with their lives. Why try something new or different? When you can just sit and rot with your favorite ginger goblin & oreo Uncle Tom pretending to be a hood nigger.

The fact that Matt recognized that and moved on despite me thinking he is the weakest on camera from the original channel and the one I have kept up with least; is what makes me respect him the most post breakup. He realized he had no more passion or desire to do this content and atleast pivoted into something a bit less soul crushing, even if I never watch his content.

Thank you, that I can understand. A bunch gamer burnouts who never achieved what they wanted but still follow them vicariously along with some troon paypigs makes complete sense to me. Such a sad state of affairs.

Used to enjoy the best friends the most since they seemed like one of the few gaming groups that actually talked past basic ass surface details about whatever they were playing. But those days are long gone since Pat and Woolie are both husks.

I think there are some underrated LPs that most people ignored cause it run with another more popular LP (rip tokyo mirage sessions) or are from a less popular pair. Like Chasing Dead is such a great trainwreck of a LP (the audio gets more delayed as they play and at one point the trees start movign) but it's matt+liam that most people hate but i watched multiple times.

Escape from Bug Island, The Cat Lady and Disaster Report are kinda slow so they're forgotten but worth at least a compilation. What we need is a good one off and shitstorm recs cause there are too many of those. Mystery box is also hard to track and i only remember this gem of exchange
NEVER FORGET #THE13000FE
THE BEST LP THAT KILLED THE CHANNEL
WOOLIE STILL DOESN'T KNOW THE WEAPON TRIANGLE 80 PARTS IN

Escape from Bug Island is a sleeper hit. While most of it is just the guys talking while running aimlessly around the jungle, sometimes the plot happens and shit hits the fan. Like the sudden appearence of lizard woman, throwing rocks at the exposed brain of a giant monkey, the stupid time travel plot and the giant demon bug stuck in some cave. It's prime "mid 2010s SBFP playing a janky game" material

Yeah that's what i mean by slow but worth a compilation, but Bug Island is a short enough LP with only 9 episodes that the whole thing is easy to watch, even the boring parts help lower your guard to the absurd shit and the survivor notes ("Giant bugs just ate one of my friends!... Actually by the sound of it they're still eating him").

I think it's mostly ignored cause it was dismissed as shitty janky shitstorm filler, i can't even find on the subreddit sidebar. If it was a normal LP 1-2 years earlier it would've considered a classic.

I agree; and remember enjoying it. A bit of trivia is that they only played it because Seanbaby did on Broken Pixels (which Matt shamelessly ripped off to create TBFP, right down to stealing the jokes). One of my favorite disturbing video game moments is the introduction of the gyrating dog creatures with human faces that makes Matt yell "FUCK THIS GAAAAAAME!."

Both Pat and Woolie dying live on cam every day at 5 PM eastern on twitch.tv, tune in now, is really confusing to me, considering their situation. I don't know about Woolie, but I do know that Pat at least is obviously financially stable, and has a core of paypigs in his audience who'll donate for any old mince. Why neither of them do whatever the fuck they want on their streams, as opposed to joylessly plodding through [current hot game] is baffling. Why not play something you're passionate about, play something you always wanted to or liked conceptually, but never actually touched, do dumb challenge runs of your favorite games, whatever. The fact that Pat's beat the backlog thing is the most ambitious content either of them has put out post-breakup is fucking wild.

Woolie just uploads his Twitch streams in chunks straight to YT with some minor editing, whereas Pat just straight up uploads the streams themselves with the ad breaks and everything kept in.
I can't decide which is the more baffling decision.

Pat is chasing money. Bigger streamers (including Pat) get paid to stream games by the developers as part of a marketing budget. It's why most of his streams are #sponsored or #codeforfree or whatever is the minimum he has to declare, but he's getting paid typically specifically to play those games. Twitch has a number of systems to connect partners to paid opportunities and Pat's constantly (seemingly) running through all of them. It's part of why I maintain that he's swimming in cash - that the payout leaks that happened a while back didn't include any revenue he was getting direct from the publisher/developer/whoever else. Even dogshit games like Concord are getting huge advertising budgets and Pat's there with his mouth open wide if you've got budget to spend.

Woolie doesn't do this - he's "too smart" and thinks he's going to grow his brand by being "the one channel" who isn't playing "smash hit game" during the "release window". That people sign onto Twitch and don't already have their viewing habits set in stone.

Woolie is the most baffling by far.

He doesn't seem to consider himself a Twitch streamer - his twitch streams are treated more like a "live audience" recording for his Youtube series - hence the editing. Pat is just doing whatever brings in the most money and while lazy, it works.

Pat views Youtube as just his stream archive. He dumps his whole stream on there so if people miss it live they can watch the stream in full on youtube. Its basically zero work he just exports the recording and uploads it.

Woolie views Youtube as his primary platform that he wants to grow. The twitch stream is just people getting to watch early. But because its a stream and hes doing interaction with the stream it ruins the format he wants which is just a Youtube LP like the best friends days. He uploads in 40 minute chunks but doesn't cut out any of the downtime, so why upload in chunks at all instead of just a stream archive? Its because he then spreads that stream out sometimes over a month to pretend its a Youtube LP. The wait between episodes is sometimes so bad if you had any interest in watching the LP you would be better going to twitch and watching the VOD there which cuts out the youtube views Woolie wants and needs.

Pats way is infinitely the better decision. Its at least consistently lazy and makes sense. Woolies is his typical Woolie Way bullshit where he does everything wrong and hurts himself in the long run.

Woolie's model could work if he made the effort to make it so. Most big streamers will spread their content across both platforms, but tailored to each. So their youtube content will generally be heavily edited around the high points, including audience interaction limited to particularly funny or appropriate chats, sometimes include additional commentary or narration, and be all gas all the time. Which can also get "double" views, as the stream audience might be inclined to watch the youtube version with the additional content. Streams are by their nature kind of slow and boring to watch if you're just here for the game, and streamers will thus tailor their content to the platform for maximum audience coverage.

And it's not like this is a difficult concept to grasp. Obviously the viewership on either platform wants different things, and by supplying the same to both, you're just cannibalizing your own audience.

Is Woolie still deluding himself and saying the Baldurs Gate 3 LP will continue?
Watching Dino Crisis and jesus fuck just stop going into the menus all the time. The overall amount of time he has wasted trying to understand combining anaesthetic is absurd.

Back in the day my favorite LPs of theirs was Souls games with Woolie on controls. I don't know if I'm wired wrong but seeing the blind leading the blind was peak comedy for me, namely seeing a man with no sense of direction or problem solving being tardwrangled by a guy who spouts wrong info 90% of the time was hilarious.

Oh, dear god, please no. His BG3 LP is so frustrating to sit through; it's essentially a big brother/little brother dynamic where he's allowed to troll or gaslight Reggie, but as soon as Reggie wants to go off and explore and play the game, Woolie gets super fucking salty because he wants to play his game at his snail's pace, so Reggie just has to sit there awkwardly, too afraid to speak up. But oh no, Woolie's having fun you see, stop telling him he isn't having fun, he knows better.
