Youngkin is a great case study for how the GOP has changed and to give hope for the future if Trump wins. it used to be one way, if a Democrat governor won you knew it would suddenly get much harder for a Republican governor to flow the. And if a Republican did get in -nothing- would change about that. But now, with Trump pushing MAGA and with 2020 revealing a ton of how Democrats do their thing, you are getting Republican governors who are actively able to dismantle Democrat efforts to 'fortify' future elections.

For all the hate DeSantis gets, he was ahead of the curve on this. 2018 had the Democrat steal playbook operating in Florida and Georgia. DeSantis cleaned out Florida and it ran clean in 2020. Kemp ignored the issue and Atlanta ran dirty in 2020.

Then DeSantis basically supported the Trump Covid and anti-tranny moves in 2020-2022. He's turned Florida into a strong GOP state through intentional policy and his own marketing, sweeping elections in 2022. It was foolish of him to try and beat Trump in the primaries, but he's clearly an early indicator of how to have success in the Trump-era party.

This message needs to be hammered home to the rust belt, midwest, and northern GOP: go hard on both election security and MAGA policies. Otherwise you'll eventually lose, either to fraud or to your base's antipathy.

DeSantis got done dirty, he stood up the Disney, woke shit.. Hell more than Trump. He just wasn't Trump and Trump has a cult of personality around him that Desantis can't get.

Desantis or Abbott in power would be ideal, but neither have the popularity of Trump or for sure the charisma. It's the right's version of style of substance in this way.

I still like DeSantis way more than Trump. But he had to go and fuck up his own campaign like a retard. Got what he deserved.

Too bad we also lost a good president.
I guess there's more to running a president than flashy campaign imagery, cheap shots and an autistic personality. All of which that Trump has.

DeSantis effectively ruined his chances for the Presidency. Literally, all he had to do was wait for 2028. The nomination would have been gift-wrapped to him.

That said, the man still deserves praise and thanks where they are due. He should stay in Florida once he's done as governor. House Representative, Senator, etc ... He'd have it in the bag.

I don't know which advisors told him to openly attack Trump but he should make sure those people have NOTHING to do with any future campaign. It was such a stupid-ass move.

I like DeSantis as Florida gov - he did a lot of good stuff. But trying to tackle Disney *and* run for President was too much, and then once his eyes were off the wheel, suddenly we got a lot of people moving down here and buying the houses and little legislation to handle it. At least we're not as messed up as some blue states are right now. Disney managed to legislate to still keep their goverment level power in the WDW area as well.

I don't think DeSantis totally ruined himself, if he backs off and just is just a good governor I think he could recover. He's just a bad campaigner mostly, so it would be rough.

Eh, considering he chose to run this time instead of waiting 4 years was a dumb decision of his own making. Agree with everything else though.

A funny thing I just noticed

Why does everyone call Kamala Harris just Kamala but Donal Trump is always just Trump?

Is it just an instinctive bow to male dominance? Harris is a woman so people feel comfortable just using her first name but because Trump is a guy he's get the deference of authority.

I'm not shitposting for once, I'm genuinely curious
Women historically carry their husband’s surname. so it’s a lot more common to refer to female public figures by their first name rather than their surname. You even have it with a lot non-American figures like Simone de Beauvoir, where she’s called “Simone.” Of course, there are some exceptions, like Margaret Thatcher being referred to as Thatcher only (or Maggie).

Is this muh sexism? Who the fuck cares. Honestly at this point I’d rather just say that yes I believe men are more important to be referred to by their family name than women.

He has shown with his spats with Trump and the media that he cannot handle that sort of pressure. He would need to fill in Trump's shoes in such a position. Of course, people CAN recover but it'd have to take some bad memory to be in good graces again. Embarrassing yourself in a social setting is not easy to recover from without time.

That's because Thatcher is so powerful, she DEMANDS her full name be uttered. You name me a woman in her field that commanders absolute tenacity, grace, and stoicism while aging as spectacularly as she has. She earned it.

I heard from a union member tonight that they are being used to put out Harris-Walz election materials as part of the mandatory apprenticeship program.

Seems highly illegal to me and I will be following up with the FEC.

The union member in question and according to him many others refused to do so outside of the morning dispatch.

He didnt stand up to Disney. He could have buck broken them entirely (the entire company relies on Walt Disney World for its profits). They were doing all kinds of blatantly illegal shit and he just let it go. Because Rinos dont tell corporations no.

What actually happened was Disney saying no more checks for Rs too. Thats what got the response and got all the R factions in Florida on the same page .

God, this is precious. They need so badly to pander now, and they can't.

They have spent so long appeasing the nigger-woman-faggot-retard population, that they forgot that white straight men have bigger brains that are capable of perceiving of things such as "lying" and "past behavior". They don't remember any other tactics than just "Hey, just trust us lol!"
