Yeahhh, I highly, HIGHLY doubt any picture on dA of a morbidly obese version of a popular character was created for any purpose other than to satisfy someone's weird fetish.

What's really awful is when you watch stuff where say, a character gets fat as part of a gag but can't unthink how many people are probably jerking it to said scene.

What the fuck is even going on there? It's like the vore version of the ending of Akira.

On a mostly unrelated note, there's actually surprisingly little vore shit in the Hannibal fandom. Then again it's a series aimed at an adult audience and vore people seem to focus almost entirely on children's media for reasons I still don't understand. There's a fuckton of mpreg and Omegaverse bullshit though.

Anyone else ever notice how popular certain weird fetishes are tends to vary from fandom to fandom? And how sometimes weird fetishes you'd expect would be popular with a certain fandom aren't popular at all? And hell, anyone got any stories to share about weird fetishes in fandoms you've participated in?

Well in the case of children's media, some of the characters from a kids show are animals and some of the vore people linked to burn each other's eyes included characters such as Sonic, Twilight Sparkle, and even Bambi.
 
Ah...a fetish thread. so much I could say, so many anecdotes I can tell.....

However I will say that those who have posted have not disappointed. this thread indeed contains a good variety of the perverse and the perplexing.

On the subject of weird fetishes in certain fandoms, I am/was somewhat involved in the Once-ler/Lorax fandom for a bit and as I think I've mentioned before they are by far the most fucked-up fandom I've been in. However, there was this one time one of the more popular artists drew watersports/piss fetish shit and the rest of the fandom completely lost their shit at her for it, like death wishes and everything. I mean, watersports is squicky and everything and I can understand people getting pissed about it (pun unintentional), but this is a fandom where hardcore guro was pretty much a daily occurrence that no one batted an eye at. You'd think that a bunch of people who rub the bean to children's cartoon characters being graphically disemboweled/beheaded/raped by an evil version of himself/cannibalized by an evil au version of himself/being raped by animals/raping animals/etc wouldn't be phased by some pee, but I guess sick fucks sometimes work in mysterious ways.
 
How can piss possibly be worse then guro? I mean, I'm sure people could probably do some really fucked up stuff with watersports that I've yet to encounter, but there is no way it's worse than guro. Watersports is outright tame compared to vore or guro IMO.

That's the million dollar question. Over the years, guro and scat in particular seem to be the main fetishes extreme enough to not be allowed on general porn/hentai boards. Even /d/, which is specifically for weird fetishes, doesn't allow guro and scat. They do allow piss, because while someone peeing is kind of squicky it's still nowhere near the level of someone being disemboweled and having their intestines eaten while they're still alive (even if it is just a drawing of that).

Then again that fandom was so bizarre in general I guess it makes sense that they'd have bizarre standards of what fetishes are and aren't too gross.
 
I just don't understand the humiliation/degradation fetish in general or why someone would want to be treated that way.
