Because people expect it from the conservatives; they vote the conservatives in to do such things. The tories have never been especially optical about how much they despise Stacey and her 5 mixed race children to 5 different fathers or Junkie Steve that's been on the take for 10 years. The Conservatives made their changes very early on in to the election when the country was financially on its knees and the nation was full of scroungers sucking up public resources. They didn't fix it and were punished extensively in the election and the rising popularity of reform and alternative right wing parties. Labour - however - have always touted themselves as the working man's party; the average man's party. Taking away fuel payments from our grandparents and parents is not what we voted for. We voted to get rid of the parasitical foreigners. The entire election was about that. Brexit was about that.

There's also a vast difference between people who have paid in to the system their entire lives; every bit of tax and stamp duty; and those that have been vultures for the generosity of the tax payer. Everyone in the UK knows a family that were generation after generation just piss-takers for welfare, and that's one of the few things they actually did fix.

And no shit people are pissed at taking away a winter fuel payment for those that paid tax and worked for their lives when the country is wasting more in a month on invading little shits on boats.

It's not hard to understand. I don't care if rich old people have a winter fuel allowance. That's clawing money back from the state by people who have paid in to the state. I'd rather a million wealthy old people have money towards their fuel bills over a single foreigner being given a penny.

I say this also as someone who has a couple of physical disabilities (one minor, one major). The job centre were fuckign excellent, I got a ton of help and this was under a Tory Government. Can someone explain to me exactly how they were "fucking over the disabled and unemployed" when being unemployed and disabled was a fucking doddle for me?


For comparison the only other time I was on JSA was in 2013, and I was living in Glasgow, so it was effectively the Job Centre under the SNP. And that was appalling - my first appointment, a group of 20 of us there for first time were taken into a room, sat down, and told "we don't care what you want from life. We don't care what you want to do. You will apply for every job you see, and you will take the first job you get, otherwise we will sanction your benefits and you will have no money".

So again, please tell me how the JCP under a Tory government was "fucking over the disabled and unemployed".I am gagging to know.


Edited to get back on-topic: People are rightly fucked off at Labour because they've gone and done something even the Tories found unconscionable, all the while claiming on the one hand, there's no money, but on the other, blowing millions a week on housing, caring for and lining the pockets of people who have lied to get into the country, with no aims of integrating or working, and who have passed through several safe countries in order to do so. And then, when people raise concerns about this, they crack down on them and treat them far more harsly, meteing out far more severe penalties than to those given to, say, the Roma migrants in Harehills, Leeds, who burned shit down because some kids from their community were taken into care because their Mother was battering them.

To the second paragraph the jobcentres in Scotland were still controlled by the DWP under the Tories jurisdiction and not the SNP (seriously do you think if the Job Centres were controlled by the SNP they wouldnt just throw money at the unemployed for votes?)

Again, please tell me how I, a disabled unemployed person was "fucked over"? Being unemployed was great, I had, after the non cash benefits were taken into account, more money than my last job, Fuel vouchers, money for topping up my housing costs,money towards interview clothes. Nice job centre staff who understood what I am and am not capable of going, who allowed me time to find a job which actually suits me.

Most disabled people who are not working or looking for work are perfectly capable of working, and are in fact, malingerers who don't want to work. It's not wrong to say this because it's the truth.

The disabled who priotitise their social lives (and the resulting "lack of spoons" this causes them) are as much a bunch of parasites as the liars who come into this country with no intention of ever working or integrating. Both are a societal disease; both need eradicating (in a non-violent, re-edication based manner - Under Communism there's no useless eaters, and people misattribute the expression "he who shall not work shall not eat" to Christ, but it was Lenin or some other senior commie who said this).
