The Sims 4

> he didn't even pirate it
skill issue. also what fucking specs do you need to have to get base game sims 4 to have issues running on your pc? a pentium 3 from 2004 or some shit?
My pc is pretty dated, Gtx 960 gpu, 16 gigs of ram, and dual core pentium 2.8ghz cpu. But Its not my fault that EA hires pajeets and trannies to code their games. There is no reason the sims should be that demanding on my hardware. There is no reason the main menu should be slow and laggy. None.

Im new at coding myself, but optimizing performance is kind of fucking common sense. I can run factorio, Hoi4, and Crusader Kings without any performance issues and there is alot going on in those games. I can play Halo 2 remastered and get consistent 30fps and those graphics are pretty fucking top notch. Hell. I used to play elite dangerous alot and it ran just fine on my system until they released Odyssey. There is absolutely no fucking excuse at all for the god damn main menu of a game with fucking ps2 graphics to run like dog shit. Zero.

I am learning to build webstores for people and I spent all day reading up on how to optimize performance and how to use tools to test how fast your code executes. If a self taught developer that has brain damage from alcoholism and hitting his fucking head a few times, who never fucking spent a day in college, can take the time to learn optimization and best practices a billion dollar corporation with hundreds of devs that have college degrees and years of experience has fucking no excuse at all for their main menu to be a slow piece of shit.

Good to know?
I'm being hyperbolic and making a self deprecating joke. Point is, if an idiot like me that is self taught can take the time to learn and optimize his code. Sims 4 deves literally have no excuse. I tried one more time and adjusted the settings and it ran more smoothly but it does keep stuttering. The characters literally look like xbox 360 era avatars and the menu is still kind of laggy. It really is just shit optimization.

In memory of Carl's Sim Guides' series on the Super Sim, I took a bit of a crack at it and raised a perfect Teen with Overachiever and more notably, the trait that was given away with the disgusting "battle pass", Practice Makes Perfect.
Cooking level 8 in one single dish cooking duration. Lol. I don't remember it being this bad without the new trait - she doesn't even have Father Winter's child or the Sulani spirits.

I never joined, though I did visit a few times for mod update info, but it's a shame the Sims forum was shut down. The long-time players, especially those still with the older editions, are not all the youngest and I can't see them loving the Reddit style EA forum. I think there were established story threads full of images too, and those are unsuited to forums without pages. It seemed like they had a nice community going, for those who like that kind of comradery, which is rare for games these days. I assume it's a shitshow in progress with a lot of disappointed people and attempts to rebuild elsewhere. Good luck with that. Also have to assume this points to EA taking the Sims series 100% in-house and Maxis going bye-bye.

I don't talk about Sims much - it's kinda my secret guilty pleasure - but I still play Sims 4. OK, I play a modded game (some downloaded, some mine, some downloaded then altered by me) that somewhat resembles Sims 4 but is full of drug dealing gangster fairies who run sex clubs while evading a zombie race car driver on a unicorn, his flamethrower carrying ballet dancer sidekick, and a tiefling Jedi who lost his mind and became a serial poisoner. I don't really do whatever it is a player is supposed to do with the game but some of my fairies wear cute dresses! Generally though, my Sims are ugly, degenerate goofy little beasts who spawn chaos and so are their kids.

But really, between CAS and Buildbuy CC and a bazillion (often) script mods my Mod folder is over 80GB. I have no idea what a vanilla Sims game (3 or 4) plays like. I'd probably hate it.

I go hard with my modding. I'm a bit of a nutter about it. Deffo OCD with the mods.
Sims is my timesink. It's what I do when I'm stressed. I've played since I was a kid. Months will pass without thinking of it, but it's there if I need it. I'm in the middle of testing, replacing, and altering everything in my mod folder for DX11. I finally stopped forcing the game to DX9 and it has been ugly. I use hundreds of sliders, including for height, along with a ton of fantasy and scifi CC cosmetic additions like full body Batuu skins, wings, antennae, fins, scars, etc so it's a bitch checking and changing it all. Anything downloaded is opened up in Sims4Studio, age and catergory edited (I have all the CAS categories unlocked for all ages so make loads of use of Occult details and body markings for stuff like horns) and all that. Same with buildbuy CC; it's all opened and changed, textures added, deleted or altered. I rewrite a lot of downloaded mods to fit how I want them to work or update them to the latest patch. It's a job, I tell ya!

Oh, and since I saw a bit of discussion about it, I'm interested in InZOI. Sort of. The graphics are attractive but I want more freedom to get ridiculous than I expect that game to offer. I'm not so much interested in pretty characters but interesting, funny looking ones and that's easier to achieve with less photorealistic art styles. I don't want to simulate life so much as I want to create a murderous child leading a band of rampaging killer ducks crashing the prom to avenge her gangly trans sister not being voted prom queen. I don't think InZOI's gonna give me that or familiar and comfy enough code to try making it possible, whereas Sims ... it's a maybe if I really want to dig in and modify existing mods to fit my dreams.

Do you play the game on a NASA computer or what? My laptop starts wheezing when I click on the shortcut icon.
That's less of a "you" problem and more of a "this game is an utterly broken horribly optimized piece of shit that needs like 5 years worth of patching to make it function properly" problem. I run a high end PC with a 3090ti and 5900x and the game runs like absolute shit and the sims are so retarded they'll literally kill themselves by deciding to take a nap outside in a blizzard while wearing their athletic outfit and all sorts of other idiocy that makes the game a chore to play at best and impossible at worst.

This game is legitimately unplayable without loads of back end work fixing this sorry ass dev team's mess for them. DO NOT buy their damned stuff packs either it only makes it worse because the assholes don't release compatibility patches with them.

EA posted a lengthy blog, talking about the future of The Sims franchise. Project Rene WILL still be a thing, it will NOT be TS5, and testing will begin soon, TS4 will continue to get milked, FreePlay will STILL get milked too, the movie will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Creator Kits (which is just paysite CC, except EA takes a big cut out of sales) will be added, and Sims Labs will be a thing. (which is the equivalent of Open Beta Tests for other games)

But WHAT THE FUCK is this new Sims logo?!

I'm sorry, the MOVIE?

Honestly? This is better than the current logo.

It looks like shit, don't get me wrong. But at least it doesn't hurt my eyes to look at. And the plumbob making up the head of a stick figure is actually kinda cute.

Shame about Rene and the usual mtx milking though. I'd be upset about that if I hadn't already given up on this franchise almost a decade ago. I'll just keep playing the Sims 3 and modding the shit out of it if I get bored, thanks.

Making a movie about the sims is about as original as any comedy/drama, unless they're going with some Strangetown storyline or sims being self aware of them being controlled. Either way, not going to watch it.

I can't imagine anything more boring than a movie about the Sims unless it's a documentray.

I extracted the Reaper's Rewards . I haven't tried any of them in the game yet aside from the bike; I updated AGAIN so no idea if the game will run at all without throwing nonstop errors, lol. I have it loading in the background so I guess I see soon enough.

There's a coffin bed and a half-burnt portrait of a woman that could be useful. There's also a gramophone (which EA didn't set as Off The Grid, fixed that) and a book I suspect links to Ambrosia somehow (haven't looked deeper than it having specific tuning attached) I haven't pulled out the Bunnys yet b/c they seem like collectables (common, uncommon, etc) but if there's no game mechanic for them I'll haul them out too.

The bike is super cute and suits my wacky custom game aesthetic - would be nice if it came in more colours. I added a few q&d but want more variety.

I haven't uploaded them since I don't upload BUT if no one else has them on offer soon I might consider sharing. I don't support reward incentives and always play offline - not a fan of companies pushing FOMO additions and forcing people to share data. (If you play and want them, download Sims4Studio and extract the packages as standalone recolours - EA seems not to notice how easy it is to grab their rewards, at least not yet).

Nope. While it's not a potato, it's what I'd consider mid-range, though my idea of mid-range may differ from yours as I need my laptops to handle graphic/media, developer, and database software.

I have Sims 3 and 4 installed on a newish Lenovo Legion gaming laptop with SSD and a dedicated graphics card but I can also run both on an old Dell, just not as fast or with the ability to have multiple other programs open at the same time.

A gaming rig can sometimes struggle with the same software that runs like butter on a older desktop; with games, graphic card compatability and game engine matter more than many realise. On top of that, Sims 3 and 4 are unstable builds with added layers of broken code brought in by all the endless packs. For them to run well, it helps to have some coding knowledge and be comfy mucking around in your computer settings.

So an online game that got hastily repurposed into a single player game goes back to being an online game 10 years after it came out. Great. I'll keep playing 2 (and occasionally 1 and 3) despite the incredibly shitty fanbase.

Considering they have legions of sad lonely women and faggots dropping cash on any trash they put out, it make sense for EA to just milk those tards ad infinitum.

Hopefully those new asian life sims do pretty good and we might see something decent come out; but hey we still have mods! (for now)
