PS4 had no lip sync at all, then went it came to PS5 they added in lip sync, issue is it was super badly done and not much better than what came before.

I still find it rather insulting that Sony has the balls to charge ppl 10$ for an upgrade of a game they already own. Its not like the first HZD needed a remaster when the game already looked good.

I've lost count of how many remasters have been added to my Steam and GOG game libraries for free only by virtue that I already owned the original releases.

Meanwhile Sony has to nickle and dime their costumers at every single turn, As you said, graphics have already reached such a level of high fidelity than insisting on pushing it even more it is a barely perceivable difference.

Can someone give me the TL;DR on what was revealed at the State of Play?

TL;DR: Buy a PC, all that was announced is already available there or will be ported eventually.

There are longstanding "unworked" or "unworking" patches to both the Sega CD and PS1 versions of both games you can and should use. I'm assuming nobody is paying ebay money for these anyway.

They don't change the translation, though. I have to say, am I the only one who actually unironically likes WD's translations? They're like sorta "abridged" versions of these games before abridged versions were even a thing; it's kinda charming in that regard

You're not wrong but the differences between the two are pretty negligible.
The + version is mostly QOL upgrades and some cheap swag.

I played one of them on Gamepass for a couple of hours and i have no idea how people enjoy the floaty combat against damage-sponge dinosaurs. I just don't get the series.

Theyre really leaning into the cat companions being marketable. Last MH I played they only made cat noises but it looks like they're opting for full voice acting in that awful vtuber voice.

Whether you like them or not, I believe professional translations should be an accurate representation of the original work, because you don't get separate tracks like:
1. English (Faithful)
2. English (Millennial)
