Disappointing they're putting effort into Horizon remake so soon. It came out on PC 4 years ago. Alright, the original was 7 years ago, but it's not like thebPS5 is that much of a generational leap that it needed it. Could have been a PS5/PS5 Pro patch easily if they didn't want to charge $70 for it.

I don't even mind remakes its just so unecassary in an already barren generation. If there were hits coming out every fortnight I probably wouldn't have commented but eh.

If you have to rehash the same titles, continue with your PC porting efforts man, come on.

Theyre really leaning into the cat companions being marketable. Last MH I played they only made cat noises but it looks like they're opting for full voice acting in that awful vtuber voice.

I mean they're always implied to be talking, but yeah the cat noises instead of actually being voiced has been a clearly intentional staple for a good while now. Between the Mr. beast shit and this it's a special hell. Sucks english voiceover stuff is a homogenous Californian/west coaster slurry you're fucked from if you don't come from there and currently reside in california or one specific city in canada or texas. If they really wanted someone to voce the cats they should have had like a deep voiced mobster accent guy because even if that would be obnoxious in a different way it would be funny.

Not monster hunter related, but this reminds me how a lot of recent remakes replace the OG voice cast with those types if it was a game that existed before that homogeny was fully set in. Like yeah even back in the day those places had a lot of the VAS coming from there, but it wasn't a monolith and it wasn't as homogenized. You still saw good voice acting from literal who types often-ish. Silent hill 2's new remaster being a big recent example of the "great replacement" going on in terms of media with lesser names.

My father's TV initially had a Netflix, YouTube, bla bla bla app.
Not quite a year into ownership updates stopped, then support stopped, then the apps just stopped working.
The PS keeps getting new versions.

in theory you could use your fucking phone, but a laptop is probably easier all things considered.

however there are still issues with proprietary apps (like netflix and shit, lot of people use their console like a streaming box really), but since almost all TVs are come with smart shit these days you can just offload it there.

I remember Valve even had some deals in the past with Smart TV manufacturers to have Steam Link preinstalled, which tbh is probably the best way to get market penetration than selling a standalone box.

Smart TVs are so cancer I can honestly understand using a console as a streaming box, or really anything besides the TV itself. I've never come across one that wasn't a slow and finnicky piece of shit. I built a small media PC for the downstairs TV a couple of years ago and while it's mostly used for music, I loaded it with a bunch of light running indies, OpenMW, and emulators.

As almost everyone here has said, Smart TV apps are dogshit that become slow and unusable within a couple of updates, this is especially so if they’re using a TV running Amazon’s shitty Fire OS. However, even these people would be better off with something like an Apple TV, which costs only 150, has more streaming apps, and ironically has more exclusive games as well.

I finally got a long enough HDMI cable to hook my desktop to my TV this month (should've bought one ages ago but i'm retarded) so i don't have to deal with any of that WebOS shit LG insists on using. First TV i bought in a long, long time and my first Smart anything product and i am not a fan of it either. Every feature just became meaningless due to the HDMI cable but said features/apps weren't used much by me even before that since i pirate all my media (where possible). I was most thrilled about it recognizing .srt and other subtitle files without problems, and of course the picture quality. Give me a "dumb" TV any day of the week.

Recently i set up a Plex server on a Libre ROC Renegade with a 4tb hdd and it runs well enough on my network for me to stream my content anywhere in my house. Most TVs have a plex app.
For gaming i use steam link to connect to my computer.

WebOS is total cancer though and our smart tv only functions well when the internet goes down and it cant connect to the ad servers.

If they had any sense left they'd keep the actor's faggotry signalling out of the game as much as possible. But I highly doubt they'll do that, that would be a good business decision. They want people to become desensitized to this shit so it'll be easier to shove in their propaganda and easier to separate the "chuds" who'll never buy their shit to begin with. Those apps are universally terrible. They're slow as dogshit, they have the full unavoidable ad experience unless you've got a TV that can be jailbroken (and even that can be a recurring hassle), and you have to use your remote to interact with them.

Yes, but the OS on these TV are exceptionally fucking terrible. Using a console as a streaming box makes sense, but I've got my PC connected to my TV when I want to watch a movie on the bigger screen. Why the fuck would I use LG OS (which is notoriously buggy as shit?

Install PiHole or similar on your media PC. Change your network settings to use the PiHole as DNS servers. Now the ad servers will always connect to a black hole.

Oh my God, it's so fucking bad. I have a big LG TV on the wall almost exclusively so my mom and dad have something to do when they visit and even with that minimal amount of usage, I still hate the thing with every fiber of my being.

I've got an older LG 55 inch 4k display, and honestly, I need to get a newer TV. I'm currently using a 34 inch ultrawide LG monitor for my PC and I haven't had any issues with it (aside from the slight lag in switching inputs). Finally managed to get a longer HDMI cable myself to run from my PC to my TV so I don't have to deal with the OS. I honestly hate how the "smart" functions have taken over everything electronic, and it does nothing but push ads on you when all you want to do is just use the device for its intended purpose. I use Kodi for my home theater software, because Plex is weird about using personal data. Not to mention I don't need an internet connection at all with using it (aside from scraping media data, but everything's just stored locally).
