On the topic of hypocrisy, exploiting the fake news trend and Trump paranoia, the Washington Post ran a story a few days ago on Voice of America and its related radio stations. If you're not familiar with Voice of America, it's a 74 year old news organization run by the US government. It was set up during World War 2 to deliver information about the US in countries where the local government has a firm grasp over the media. Since the first day of operation, it's been called a propaganda outlet, but now the left media is terrified. That's because a recent bill, which received approval from Obama (something many outlets circulating the WaPo story leave out), has changed the management of the channel from a group of individuals chosen by both parties, to a sole person appointed by the president. That's now a huge problem because Trump is going to be in charge. Propaganda everywhere and the end of free press!
I think VOA is antiquated since the US media permeates everywhere, and if you're in a country that blocks internet and TV usage, you're probably in a country that has found a way to block VoA, but I do agree that change is concerning. The thing is, that would be concerning no matter who's in charge, so how come this is only a story now and not when there was a chance to shoot it down? Did the press, whose job it is to report on the government, just miss that? Or did they have no problem with it because they expected Madame President? If it's that last one, that's more frightening than VOA running pro-Trump pieces all day every day, since Wikileaks has already exposed massive collusion between Clinton and the supposedly independent media.
And Hillary sells political favors through her foundation and she's "the most qualified candidate in history". Trump's win may very well be the best thing to happen to political discourse in recent history, since now everyone can see that the left is as batshit crazy as they've always insisted the right is. Just imagine how boring and smug they'd have been if Clinton won.
SNL, The Daily Show, John Oliver and the rest of talking head television are probably secretly happy about Trump's win. If Hillary had won, they'd be delivering nonstop praise (Isn't Madame President, the first female President in the United Stats, amazing?) and pushing more identity politics. People are going to get sick of the first one and depending on how close they get to pedophile acceptance, the second might cause more riots.
like many media outlets they are fine when their boy is in power- it is when the other side is in they go nuts- see the current telegraph and guardian and compare to ten years ago for a uk equivalent.
Trust in the US media has never been lower than it's been this year and most mainstream outlets are not right leaning. Many would say that Fox's worst run was during the post-9/11 Bush years.
The holidays are coming up and she was already leaving in January. Firing her now might as well be virtue signalling.
