pointless trivias: Proxima Centauri is about 4 light years away. If there was a colony on a planet there, and some signal was sent to there in 2016 when Trump won, it would take ~4 years for that signal to get over there, arriving at that colony in ~2020. Then their reply would take another ~4 years to get back, finally arriving at around now.
Chairman Yang doesn't care about the results of our elections, he is totally focused on his social experiments.

It's not so much that she's a pathological liar (all politicians at this level are) it's that she's such a bad one. Not even the plausible lies that she tells are believable. When that happens nobody will believe her on important things when she tells the truth and that should be disqualifying.

So on a mayoral failure scale of 1-10, with Buttigieg at 1, Lightfoot at 5, and Henyard at 10+, where does Adams fall? I'm leaning more toward him being blatantly corrupt and having some kind of connection with Diddy with a side order of him going against the NGO replacement folks. Watching the Tiffany Henyard fiasco play out, she didn't even try to hide what she was doing, whereas I'm sure there's an unspoken rule among these corrupt people that you can be a tyrannical, immoral public "servant" as long as you hide your power level.
Well the entire reasons the Adams stuff is happening is because he started to be outspoken about all the people coming in. In short, there was only so much corruption he could stomach doing while seeing the entire city implode.

This whole thing about Kamala working at McDonald's. My natural response would be "And is that relevant to being Vice President? In what way do the skills translate?"

It's an indictment of the electorate that her working at McDonald's would even matter to them.
She’s done such a bad job as a VP that her resume highlights her previous experience. However, she also did such a bad job as AG that she has to go an claim she worked at McDonald’s once. Anything that makes her look competent.

And it gives them an excuse to say, "See? We don't selectively prosecute for political reasons! Nobody is above the law!"

Yeah. They need to actually use the laws that were changed to fuck with Trump specifically to make sure that when Trump is gone the laws won’t be. Because they know another Trump is unlikely and therefore no other threat will ever get off the ground.

For me, personally, the McDonald's lie is a big deal for the same reason that her lying about her race is a big deal: Why lie about these things? They don't matter. Why lie about such little things?
Because she's a pathological liar. She has to lie, no matter how dangerous.

I think it's a combination of refusing to deviate from her narrative, combined with a complete inability to speak outside her narrative.

Remember that in 2019 she became the big "rising star" of the Democratic Party solely from journo puff pieces pitching her biography. That was the only time she was ever briefly popular, when the media held up her chosen prime time narrative. The moment people started meeting and listening to her, the poll numbers cratered. She doesn't have anything real or impressive to fall back on without her narrative. And since she's on the left, she's a part of the "repeat the lie enough times so it's true" gang. She is only in the position she's in because she checks off checkboxes.

So, she has to keep Black, woman, middle class, progressive, girlboss, etc and she has to keep saying the bullet points relating to those things. It doesn't matter if someone points out she's Indian instead of Black, never worked a middle class job, pushed policies progressives don't like, and is an absolutely terrible boss. She can't back down on any of those things, because she doesn't have policies to offer, only her biography. Every time she's talked policy it's been a disaster, she can only hope to coast on vibes and checkboxes.

If she had half of Trump's skill speaking off the cuff, she could at least talk around the issues and get back to a message. But she doesn't.
