Just remember folks: until gunpowder was invented the number one cause of death for Krogan on Tuchanka was "eaten by predator". Yes, there were (emphasis on the past tense) creatures that hunted down the Krogan as a food source. There's a reason why they have eyes in between that of a predator and a prey species, and its because they evolved as both at once. Obviously after cannonballs entered the survival equation things changed drastically, but the Krogan were never, ever meant to live in a place that wasn't as hyper-lethal as Catachan, if not more lethal than Catachan. In ME2 Mordin Solus lays out pretty clearly that the genophage was meant to do what predation could no longer do: put a damper on their numbers so they didn't reproduce out of control. In ME3 Bakara has a similar sentiment, that technology made the Krogan too soft, as in they no longer needed to fight and bite every day just to survive, with the inevitable end result.
I really liked the Turian, Salarian and Krogan species designs. They looked very believable, humanoid enough for tool use but not just actor in plastic costume ears. Like a Wookie or Tau or Kroot they look believable.
Asari were really just hot chick with head dress like Twi'leks, Eldar, Klingons etc.
Speaking of Star Wars, you got goth menhera sith chick, preppy padawan jedi girl, and a bi-blonde Sith calm girl as waifu options.
I am sure none of those would fly today, as you are the master of two, and the bi-blonde is your advisor, so technically they all sleep with the boss/teacher so it is senpai-kouhai.
