Here's what the legal process looks like in comparison

1- 2 years to apply for initial visa that has a pathway to Perminent residency (need to include various evidence of not being a threat and a good candidate for residency)
6 months to get your affairs sorted and moved to the US once you have the permission
12 months for Adjustment of Status to be approved - no work permit or state ID till this is approved and absolutely no govt help
2 year Perm Residency only - then need to get "Removal of Conditions" for a full 10 year card
24 months for the 10 year Perm Residency card application to be processed

Only once all this has been done - can a legal resident actually start thinking about going for Citizenship - takes like 5 years at minimum. Technically you need like 3 years living in the US but you gotta have everything squared up before you can take that step. So all this immigration shennaigans kinda pisses off people who did it all the legal way and waited instead of barging their way thru on the border.

Complimentary to that, with various maker spaces and shared workshops putting together fleets of 3d printers and small hobby CNC mills, as well as other tools like laser cutters, water jets, and full-sized CNC gear, small-run manufacturing is being democratized. Various manufacturing arts that withered as the US was de-industrialized to make way for a service economy are being rediscovered. The pool of people with the knowledge and skill to potentially make a firearm is expanding, and so is the availability of tools.

The Democrats have never lost sight of the goal of total civilian disarmament. If firearms manufacture were limited to a handful of major companies, that allows for tight control of the supply of firearms. Apparently in November, we're voting for the presidency of Ukraine because I'm seeing a lot of shit about Zelensky and Putin and how much we need to care about either of those countries.
