Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

Bit of a crossover post but it looks like the Milwaukee Pigman seems to have fallen for the fuckcars/urbanist meme.

The last time this happened, they ended up with Jonestown.
Actually, one thing that isn't really discussed much is the connection between FuckCars and degrowth/maoism.

The communists in China actually tried forcing 90% of their population to live on agricultural communes, and co-operatives, which resulted in the worst famine in human history.

Much of the "FuckCars" philosophy is tied to non-sense like degrowth, maoistic living where people give up their washing machines and share communal kitchens.
Interestingly enough, the Amish are brought up in this thread because they even use washing machines.

These degrowthers/Fuckcars people aren't randoms either. They have like Phds and work in academia. These people pretty much set the tone for where the environmental movement is, and where its going in left-wing politics. Its a very strange fetish of patoralism, rural poverty and luddite ways for people who are afaird of manual labor in the sun.
Don't forget Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge - that was probably the furthest these ideas have ever been taken, and they managed to kill, what, 25% of the population before even communist Vietnam saw that these people were batshit and forcibly stopped them?

Pol Pot got his ideas from French intellectuals after his father sent him to prestigious French universities in the 50s. (An alternate explanation is that the poor man had to spend years listening to French intellectuals and came to the conclusion that anyone literate must be brutally murdered.)

Of course it’s NYC.
I've been watching that video and it's so nuts that I downloaded a local copy.
What gets me about these videos is the driver is left with no recourse for the damage to their vehicle when a soyclist rides off after a collision. The premium increase for filing against your own insurance often isn't worth it, so you're stuck either paying several hundred dollars out of pocket for minor body work or wearing a dent that wasn't your fault, knowing the faggot responsible is still riding around like a prick without consequence.

I can see why NYC is considering mandatory bicycle registration. I know the real reason is NYC is run by rent-seeking kikes, but if it results in soyclists getting popped by LPR cameras for running red lights, I'm all for it.

I gotta pull an "um, ackchyually" in this specific instance and say that you should always park with your driver's side wing mirror folded in. Not that these faggots are justified in grabbing onto car handles and crashing in the first place. I usually unlock all my doors out of laziness so they'd most likely door themselves if I tapped the brakes.
Have to be a massive smooth brain to complain about pedestrians crossing against the lights and then disobey your own traffic signals lol
The punch line is that he'll literally stop at nothing to protect bike lanes. The thread should be out of PG as soon as I can upload the clips. The internet jannies are making it slow to upload self-published videos of some retard running into pedestrians.
Now, the whole romanticism around bike messengers and fixed gear bikes always appealed to me. It always seemed like a sort of urban outlaw thing, riding free and being all punk and DIY.
They're mostly just Uber Eats delivery people, though I have nothing against them. The real villains of the urban bike scene are the wannabe racers, the jannies, and the rental bikes. Normal people commuting to or doing a job are usually okay.

Yet the urbanist says nothing to "one more track". Perhaps the real solution to having less stress and faster travel is just live in a less dense area.

Elevators should cost money:

These guys are really bad at making this idea sound lame. They're tempting me to want a "$40,000 couch" on wheels. Sounds rather nice actually.

It makes more sense when you consider how much of modern leftism is rooted in filthy hippies and the academia that coddled them.

There's also some sort of strain of masochism running in these groups. It's not just playing the victim, it's also a perverse pride in avoiding all common sense when it comes to transporting yourself and others.

American Feetslut or whatever his Twitter handle was would've tied children down with bungee cords on a cargo bike if he thought he could get away with it.

The US is primarily suburban and rural in isolated towns. Therefore the lack of international exposure and diversity means a slow rate of cultural change. Essentially you are dealing with people who haven't evolved much since their ancestors settled there.

- "Anonymous" on Quora

Meanwhile the intolerant cult of "woke" arose in the urban. And where there is incompatible ways and too many people crammed in one area, it leads to a hellish crime level.

And just because ways aren't evolving doesn't mean they're always bad.

These days the bulk of bike messengers are Uber Eats and the likes, yeah. But I'm talking more about the romanticised bike couriers of yesteryear from movies and TV. Like Quicksilver, Premium Rush, Dark Angel... The pre-Uber Eats type that popularised the fixed gear bike among urban hipsters in the late 2000s or so.

Don't have much to add here, aside how fucking infuriating the Redditor mentality of, "I have stats on my side, so I can talk to you in a way that would get me punched in the face irl and be offended when you don't put up with it, because My Numbers" is. It's a thing with most Reddit communities, but the urbanists are especially bad with that shit. It should be offensive to anyone who knows anything about how statistics work, since literal high school stats classes explain how statistics can be used to mislead or straight-up lie to people.

Just go on any of the urbanist subs or any city's sub and you'll see it. Any post on r/nyc or r/Chicago that's like "I'm a woman and I [bought a car/do Uber instead of public transit outside of rush hour/moved out of the city] because of one too many uncomfortable experiences with a crazy guy twice my size on the train" gets brigaded with accusations of being a Russian bot, conservative troll from the suburbs, or well ackschually the stats say that doesn't happen. They genuinely think that a subreddit being "brigaded" is a serious issue. It's insufferable how they pretend they're bastions of objective logic and their opposition is a lying, irrational chud when the soy Redditor is always clearly furious that someone dares to disagree with them.

One of my oldest friends has recently gotten into this whole community, and he's gotten really insufferable about it. He's a good bit into his thirties, which makes it even weirder and more annoying. Having your self-righteous politisperg phase when you're in college is normal, doing it when your identity should be pretty solidified is another thing and is really strange. His whole political ideology has become "living in the suburbs is objectively bad and wrong," not even anything about actually improving anyone's quality of life. Sorry man, I've lived in both the city and the suburbs for a good while, and people out here in the 'burbs are way friendlier, probably because a lot of them own their homes, or if not, it's more affordable out here so they're not all stressed out about the prospect of having to move again next year. No way would I buy an apartment when it'd become unlivable if one of my neighbors goes insane or decides to live like a total nigger. Out here there's some distance between a hypothetical nigtarded neighbor and my house.

Mr. "I Don't Talk About America" is busy talking about America again:
I find it funny that he showed up on this literally who channel and already has given them their most viewed video:

I've also always found is a little suspicious that (based on YouTube views anyway) it really seems like most people don't care about urbanism at all, they just care about this one guy. Tin foil talk maybe but I don't think it's a stretch to wonder if a guy who's worked in powerful tech firms managed to make a connection at YouTube to give him an artificial algorithm bump.

Louis Rossmann has addressed the world beyond statistics:
About 7 minutes in he address safety on the NYC subway, it's not just about the crimes reported to the NYPD but about physical and mental comfort.

In the example video, a Black man was harassing a White family. Was it a crime? Perhaps. Was it reported? No. Was the man arrested? No. Will the man face consequences? Never.

I have family in LA and I have taken the Metro Red Line from Union Station to Santa Monica.

On a round trip, I met a person smoking pot, a bum smearing feces on the train wall, a nigger playing mumble rap, and some asshole leaving their snack garbage everywhere while almost fighting an elderly rider that spoke up.

Fuck their stats.

P.S. Statistics can be completely manipulated.

The idea that suburbs are subsidized by the city and are a ponzi scheme comes from an analysis of Lafayette, Louisiana. However, poverty remains a significant issue in Lafayette and that has a serious issue in a comparison. Additionally, the analysis is limited to only the city limits proper not.

Such, an older and poorer suburb located near the city may be subsidized but this does not mean suburbs themselves are subsidized by cities as they are their own towns.

Compton, CA a suburb of Los Angeles City.

1000003128.jpg
Newport Beach, CA a mostly suburban town that is independent of a proper city.

P.S. When areas that are mostly suburbs choose to split from the city, progressives lose their shit, which flies in the face of the subsidies myth:
