He seems to use his tongue a lot to. Reminds me of the baby phase when they discover their tongue and its always out. Definitely odd but hard to tell when she does 3 second clips.

I've noticed that, and at the risk of sounding conspiracy theorist I wonder if it might feel odd due to nerve damage.
Like if he got differing sensations when he poked it out etc so he's 'playing' with it...

He was just a lying shit. And thankfully we can also ignore Genie. He's not feral though, he's surrounded by speech (mostly from the tv, but speech is speech). I think the best comparison might be how deaf kids learn speech, except without the "accent" since he can (probably) hear himself. Even that's not right though, because deaf kids witness normal social interaction and how conversations work. Nobody in that house talks to Atlas, or really anyone else.
Luna is grim, but I feel like a 3 year old boy stuck inside in pajamas, ignored, and stuck in front of the tv while dad works out where it's loud and mom spends all her time on bs for her spud, or on the baby. It's a good thing he really wants to help Luna's "therapists", I'm not worried about sibling rivalry with the baby. It's just fucking sad that this kid's only interaction outside his fucked up family is because the eye-fucker brings people in to "help" her unhelpable child.

Atlas has definitely been evolving into the 'biggest victim' during this Luna epoch, in my mind, for some time now. Seems to be handling it like a champ, but he is clearly intelligent and thoughtful...so I think he is going to struggle a lot with the reality of the situation as he grows up.

I've said this before but his vague approximations of speech sounds makes my armchair diagnosis to be childhood apraxia. It is about the muscle coordination of the mouth/tongue/etc, less about understanding the purpose of communication or understanding language. He doesn't seem autistic but he is tremendously, tremendously delayed.
It is trendy to get your kids tongue tie clipped so not sure if this really caused it. can also just be genetic influence.

I used to be in the train.that thought Atlas was autistic (i still.have a slight suspicion that he may be) but he is nearly 3 and a half now... he should at least be doing some vocalizations.
For those unaware, autistic children may still not be speaking in any meaningful way, but they begin vocalizations that are just repetitive enviromental aounds or even single words repeated "echolocia" i think is what its called.
Other autistic children begin speaking theough a "top to bottom" approach called gestalt language acquisition. While a regular baby might learn one word at a time "mama" a gestalt person will vocalize an entire melody, or a short sentence with a melodic qaulity to it "I see a-" could mean "it" or "on the bus" might mean "go"
With atlas, we arent seeing either approach. Im statting to wonder just as others are, if this is a mechanical problem

I am on the fence about autism. If he has it, it's not severe. And while we simply don't get to see enough of him to armchair judge/diagnose, I do feel that if he could say full sentences they'd have posted evidence at some point, if not to own tha haydurs (hii, Globyn!) then just to be excited that their kid is growing up and wanting to share that joy with the world.
On reflection, I think a speech impediment is more likely, but as with how exactly Buna's brain is faring since the shunt seemingly failed we simply can't know for sure without Glob giving us more information, inadvertently or otherwise. It's also maybe a mark of how poor the facebook-acquired therapists Blob is using for Buna are that they seemingly haven't ever mentioned to her that getting her middle child assessed would be helpful. Obviously there is the possibility that they have and she's just ignoring their advice, but I think it probably that they're just trying to stay in their lane, get the easy money for 'treating' Buna (with whom they and the parents have no reasonable expectation of progress ever being made) and then getting back out of the nuthouse asap. If they're privately hired and not plugged in to the system as it is, then they won't be making those referrals on his behalf, just telling Blob that she should seek them at very least (most?).
It also underlines how isolated the Ramirez family is that there are no orbiting friends with accounts we can glean supplemental info from, for any other kid we'd be able to see (or at least read accounts of) regular playdates and out-of-the-home activities from people who have no stake in hiding the truth from us. As far as we know, Atlas has only ever had that one playdate and otherwise hangs out 24/7 with his batshit family and siblings. It's really sad. Hopefully as Tree grows up a bit and starts acquiring language Atlas will finally have a normal, functioning non-tater friend to learn and play and explore with, even if all we are ever shown of it is a few boomerangs.
Once again, I am left wondering what the medically trained members of the wider Ramirez family think of this situation and if they too have tried to convince Globyn that all is not well with their oldest son.

With all due respect to the autistic preschoolers of the world -- most of them are pretty feral. Atlas seems very calm and regulated and interested in his environment to be as severely autistic as his total lack of speech suggests.

Well, he's half beaner, so yeah.
My long-standing, unfounded, uneducated speculation is that he has Mosaic Down Syndrome. One of the markers for Downs is an oversized tongue, right? Her denying ass could have mistaken a large tongue for a tongue tie, especially since he's probably never seen a pediatrician.

She is just a woo person who thinks EVERYONE has tongue tie. He was 3 days old when she had it done. She had Oaken's tongue cut too even sooner.
She posted another cooking with Atlas you can hear the cadence of speech, but he lacks the articulation which seems to support more that she fucked up his tongue with her woo.

Grunts and screams 95% of the time. I know a kids born the same month as Atlas and can talk pretty much like a kid now, not just toddler babble. Complete sentences, and actually have a conversation back and forth. Yes kids can develop different but this is concerning.
He can obviously listen to some instructions. Physically he seems fine. But speech is very delayed. Like others have said it could be multiple reasons beyond the tism. Hell be 4 in a few months. Sad she brags about Lunas speech therapy but fuck Atlas I guess.
I `~love~` how she promotes the 'lived experience' of the ppl on this Healy shill scam call as being better than, say, SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE! Right, bc there is no scientific evidence in studies that could ever show the usefulness of this absolutely ridiculous device. Absolute junk for thousands of dollars.

Regardless of what the issue is with his speech, Robyn will have to eventually address it. I wonder what she will actually do. Another kid she likely fucked up due to her idiotic beliefs and actions. I hope she gets him some help but I won’t be surprised if she goes into denial like she did with Luna. Poor kid. I don’t even like kids but Atlas always manages to put a smile on my face. She doesn’t deserve him.

I think that's mostly the actual baby. The very end of the forth video a voice starts to cut in over the babble, I think that's probably Atlas, which, thankfully, means the baby sounds are coming from the baby Tree.

Atlas is not autistic, he's just neglected. Speech delays happen when children are traumatised or ignored. There's also the tongue thing. Hope he grows up to escape this house of horrors early. He's a sweet kid and seems to have the brain, just no tools to verbalise it. It's all happening internally. Get him help, Globyn. The longer you wait to fix the problem you caused, the more we're going to keep pointing it out.
