I'm not sure that Chantal truly hates herself in any meaningful way. This psycho doesn't feel shame or embarrassment, gives zero fucks about anyone but herself and thinks everyone behaves the way she does. Self-hatred requires self awareness and our special Cutie has zero of that. I think Chins hates being fat and all the shit that comes with it--the physical limitations, the way it stokes her jealousy toward other women, how physically unattractive it makes her to most men, etc. And even then, I think it's a superficial type of self-hatred; being fat is just this pesky annoyance she has to deal with and not the actual imminent threat it is to her life.

They all look the same style with different upholstery from room to room. There are no exposed boards to fall off that she can put back. Most likely the arm she was leaning on separated from the couch. It didnt have to separate all the way so she wouldnt have fallen off. I believe she is "sealing" up against it and eating off the table there.

Or the couch buckled and that front peice that spans between the legs cracked, but plywood is really strong in this orientation.
