He kind of fits the profile of a middle-aged guy one life-changing experience away from coming out full-blown gay. As soon as they started to look at it systematically, the so called benefits fell apart.

The benefits didn’t necessarily fall apart, but the FDA didn’t like elements like for example that it’s virtually impossible to do a double blind trial with MDMA, since both therapist and patient knows what the effects feel and look like.

And let’s not pretend that the FDA isn’t a deeply conservative agency, wholly in the pockets of big pharma.

And regarding ibogaine, there’s still ongoing trials.
