Hurricane Helene / Invest 97L

christ almighty this feels worse than katrina. apart from the cajun navy, who would be a good local group/org to donate to? especially for those in more rural towns who won't get the social media donation campaigns like palestine does. god help everyone in the path of the floods, hope all kiwis in the area stay safe.

I will update with a list of the best organizations to donate to, once they come down the wire, if it’ll be helpful to folks.

60+ according to a pretty reliable Twitter account that posts their sources.
I expect it in the hundreds or thousands after a few weeks of search and rescue and getting everything together.
This is just confirmed. Guarantee she killed way more.
It's really horrific. My heart goes out to all those who are either suffering from or lost their lives due to this disaster, and I really hope they're not put through the wringer again in 2 weeks.

thanks i will pass along to churches here and see what we can do. this is insane levels of damage and god knows these people wont receive half of the help they need from washington

Not surprised it's the Coast Guard getting shit done, the underloved military branch.
Coast guard rescue swimmers are the most underappreciated members of the military and they're the ones with the biggest balls. Their motto is "so that others may live" and I have infinite respect for them.

Edit: it's also come to my attention that two days ago the Tennessee national guard was deployed to the middle east. Whatever phenomenally retarded faggot decided to send them when there was a HURRICANE bearing down on the area needs to be hanged. It may not be the entire group but sending anyone away when they may bee needed for an immediate emergency is infuriating.

Given the relative flatness of New Orleans, versus the mountainous terrain here... It's going to be worse. Katrina didn't have landslides.
The effects are far more widespread than Katrina (spread across several states rather than one metro area) and virtually no evacuation occurred until last minute, unlike Katrina where there was much more time, and the effects were more apparent. Nobody, outside of some counties in Florida, were ordered to evacuate until flooding had already begun. Nobody had really anticipated it, and everyone shrugged off the models as overestimating the rain significantly, although ultimately it underestimated it.
I really do think it's gonna be worse.

Operation Airdrop is moving coordination efforts here to NC from FL, but help from anywhere is welcome and needed.

EDIT: If you wish to make monetary donations, one of the absolute best organizations that need those donations are Samaritan’s Purse. They are fantastic people and they are truly Christian.

Please support them HERE. Follow them on all social media as well.

I hope he warehouse/storage place is ok. But fuck me, he's probably lost most of it...
That's doesn't even just suck. This dude that's been doing this for 15 years now is out of a job and there's literally no way he can recover all of his work equipment. I mean, I'm grateful (and him moreso than me) that he's alive, but that's gotta sting quite a bit.

Quote from smug lefty cunt at work: "And these idiots want to defund FEMA. Did you know the moron governor of Tennessee refused disaster aid and instead called for a statewide day of prayer?"

I am grateful for these interactions, as they remind me how insufferable these people are. Here's hoping the casualties are lower than expected.

Edit: Defund, not refund.
