This motherfucker coming across my feed. Most of the video is sweeping for Troons, defending pedophiilia, and hating "le evil Conservatives" like
Libs of TikTok
I've watched Lago's content for a couple of years now, and he's even cited posts I’ve made in other threads. I respect him because he’s one of the few furry commentators who can take a neutral stance on most issues. That being said, I disagree with much of this video, so I’m hoping it’s just a one-off and not a warning sign of decline.
Since he breaks the video down into three sections/incidents, here are my thoughts on each:
1) Fursuiter walking past the kids/LibsofTikTok incident
I believe there was some fault on the fursuiter’s part. Many local businesses where I live explicitly prohibit customers from wearing costumes or masks that completely cover their heads. From various fursuiters I’ve spoken to, it’s heavily frowned upon in fursuiting culture to show up at a store or business in a fursuit without asking permission beforehand. This is primarily due to safety concerns, as fursuits limit peripheral vision, and most businesses don’t want to deal with the liability if someone gets hurt or something is damaged. At no point in Lago's video or in any of the tweets about the drama does a single person bring up the question of whether he had permission to be doing this, and honestly, it's a little infuriating to me.
I should also emphasize that when I say this is partially the fursuiter's fault, I’m not placing all of the blame on them. I somewhat agree that LibsofTikTok didn’t need to draw attention to this video in the first place because if you watch it,
the fursuiter does absolutely nothing to the kid other than walk past. However, I also feel that since the fursuiter likely didn’t ask for permission from the venue, they aren’t helping their case. If you’re going to insist on wearing your fursuit in public, you should be prepared for any attention (positive or negative) that may come your way.
2) Bluefolf ruining the fandom's "reputation"
Lago’s description of the infamous Bluefolf plate video as "a leaked video" is inaccurate. This phrasing implies that Blue privately shared the video with someone who then made it public out of spite. In reality, Blue willingly posted the video in a publicly accessible Telegram chat, and it spread from there.
Regardless of the semantics surrounding what qualifies as a leak, I believe it’s understandable for people to want to distance themselves from someone who creates videos like that. Claiming "I don’t care about the fandom’s reputation" doesn’t hold up when others begin to associate you with such behavior. If you're aware of the plate video and do or say nothing, it can suggest either that you don’t have an issue with it or that you view such behavior as normal and acceptable.
Overall, I just find Lago's stance hypocritical because no one makes the same "don't care about the fandom's reputation" argument when furries express opinions that are even remotely conservative or right-leaning. In those cases, there's almost always immediate distancing and complaints that their opinions are "making the fandom look bad."
3) FA’s mass diaper ban
This might be a hot take, but I don’t believe artwork featuring underage characters and/or diapers should be posted on a platform primarily known for adult content, even if the artwork itself isn’t explicit. Just as adult magazines like Playboy wouldn’t feature images of children, it feels irresponsible at best to mix such content with adult material.
I agree with Lago's thoughts that rules and content ratings aren’t being reliably enforced on FA. It’s not uncommon to hear users claim that one mod approved an image while another mod didn’t.
There’s speculation that FA has a massive backlog of unresolved reports and support tickets, possibly dating back several years, and the staff are only now getting around to addressing them. Given the management issues at FA even before Dragoneer’s passing, this could explain why certain content is only now being removed.
