Hi, I'm not sure what to expect by posting here but I don't have anyone else to talk to so i was hoping maybe for some guidance from someone here who may have gone through what i feel like i'm going through.

Here’s what my graft site looked like one week after MLD phalloplasty. The skin, fat, thoracodorsal blood vessels, three intercostal nerves, and a strip of the latissimus dorsi were harvested to be constructed into a penis. I had a wound vac for 6 days and will have the stitches for nearly 2 weeks.

Sometimes an MLD graft is closed with a split-thickness skin graft from elsewhere on the body. To prepare for this, my left thigh was shaved and cleaned in case that skin would be needed to close my back. I was lucky to have primary closure.

MLD grafts often use the thoracodorsal nerve, a motor nerve in the latissimus dorsi. I was very lucky to have had not one, but three sensory nerves that were viable for my team to harvest with the flap. I also received three cadaveric nerve grafts during surgery.

This is my first stage of a planned four total for FTM phalloplasty. The following stages will include urethral lengthening (urethra lengthened into the new penis), glansplasty (definition of a glans), scrotoplasty (creation of scrotum), and erectile and testicular prostheses. I will not be posting peenor photos on reddit.

Side note: the safety pin is NOT pinned to my dressing! It it stuck with the band-aid onto my tegaderm bandage.

I had stage one (phallus creation only) on September 13th! This is what my back looked like on the 20th. I was able to have single line closure rather than have a second graft. I had three jp drains following surgery. Two removed the day of discharge (the 19th) and the last on the 23rd.

Something that's very exciting is that my surgical team took three sensory nerves rather than the typical single motor nerve (three intercostal instead of the thoracodorsal). I'm pretty optimistic about what that could mean for my sensation.
