Oldfag new account. Anyway, I have been following these new age lolcows and the seemingly incestuous communities that surround them for a couple of years now. While I have many mixed thoughts and feelings about the whole mess. I have a few thoughts about Earl in particular, that I haven't seen brought up anywhere.
This might be a slight powerlevel but, I'm curious about Earl's misguided belief that he is exceptionally intelligent despite the constantly growing mountains of evidence to the contrary. I don't know if it was a no child left behind thing or just a regional thing but certainly a financially motivated thing. In the early 2000s public elementary schools in the northeastern midwest were collecting speds like they were Pokemon, to the point they would bus them in from other districts. The other thing they would do is take any kid who was even slightly struggling or had any behavioral issues or speech issues and subject them to a battery of tests including an IQ test. In an attempt to place them in special education courses. The thing they would often find is that these kids were not legally retarded but had other problems be they bad parents or dyslexia or the tisim that they were not qualified to diagnose nor treat so they would refer them to a specialist.
So in the most politically correct and elementary school teacher way possible, they would tell them "You are not retarded but have issues we need to work on". Usually using terms like "above average intelligence" or "borderline genius" etc to soften the blow. This is where I believe the massive uptick in diagnosed cases of Aspergers, autism, and ADHD in kids around that time that people used to complain about came from. Now the only part that most of these kids and their parents seemed to hear was the smart part. This led to a bunch of inflated egos and a personally ingrained belief that they were already smart and that there was no need for personal improvement or addressing the issues that led them there in the first place. I knew several complete morons who seemed to believe MENSA was going to come knocking on their door any day.
To bring this back to Earl, considering his very apparent behavioral problems and his complete inability to and unwillingness to learn to speak properly combined with apparently being diagnosed with and medicated for literally every mental disorder that problem children get diagnosed with as well as his being from Michigan. I have to assume, this pretty common early childhood experience that stemmed from someone believing he was retarded is why to this day well over 20 years later he believes he is the smartest person in the room at all times.
I'm also curious if he is aware that thanks to the ADA colleges have to accept disabled people, and that there is a high likelihood that the college he is so proud of attending for some nothing degree accepted him not for any scholastic ability but rather because he's a tard.
I saw some debate as to whether Earl was bipolar or not earlier in the thread, I am no expert but he does seem manic. I however have seen Earl fantasize about others dying from drug use. I have also heard him brag for some reason about taking every antipsychotic medication in the book. I also know he reads this thread so Earl. Have fun with your perfectly safe and effective treatments that will in no way adversely affect you.
