Careercow Donald J Trump - 45th/47th President of the USA, convicted felon, Epstein bro, Putin simp, serial liar, sore loser, cheat and the Chris-Chan of Presidents. THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL DEBATE THREAD.

Trump appears to have given up throwing shit at the wall and ended up mumbling nonsense things.
With so little time left before election day "The day the Marxist, Socialist Deep State steals the country for good and turns us all into emasculated trannies and takes away everyone's guns, freedom, right to speech, houses, food, liberties and beer", he's switching it up to literal "The Purge" talk:

"He (Trump) suggested having “one really violent day,” or “one rough hour, and I mean real rough,” would end shoplifting crimes “immediately.”

Again showing how completely nearsighted and accelerationist most of Trump's messaging is.

It probably sounds great to an angry redneck who hates Niggers by default, but thinking it will "end shoplifting crimes immediately" is the dumbest fucking shit ever. Yeah, it'll stop em because they'll be replaced with full on urban warfare that'll make worst BLM bullshit seem like a late afternoon aperitif. Which, I guess, is what some folks want. An open, ideological and race war.

Hypothetically:

Think about it. Cops get to go ham on anyone who looks at them sideways or is accused of taking $10 worth of bullshit from a CVS. A cop caves someone's head in with their baton or plugs an unarmed kid with 8 bullets from across the parking lot and it's all caught in 4K.

Suddenly, you've got entire communities rioting again non stop, only this time there's no reason to stop or calm down since the violence was ordered from the top and not the result of isolated police action. What more justification is needed to go all in? We learned in 2020 that a single city's police force isn't adaquate to quell a major uprising. Ya'll Queda and the Gravy Seals, who've been worked into a frothy anger by Trump's propaganda, will jump at the chance to swill down a 30 pack of Coors, hop in the back of their RAM 2500 with Trump Flags flying to go Nigger hunting in the ghettos.

We'll need millitary intervention in some places, finally fulfilling the prophecy that we're becoming a police state that uses its millitary against its own citizens.

That doesn't sound like a great first year in office for a president, unless you just want an excuse to kill people you dislike and participate in a civil war. Which there's no derth of those folks in MAGA.

Simultaneously, he is also sperging out about crowd sizes and the Secret Service by claiming the Democrats are fucking with his campaign and interfering with the election by not giving him what he thinks is the "proper" number of people necessary for his protection for his rallies.
maybe he could, I dunno, pay for his own protection?

what, donnie dipshit, can't afford it?

Once again, Downy Don takes a natural disaster and makes it all about his opponent vs. himself to favor his image. He posted about an image Harris posted on Twitter and started going on about how it was fake and staged, citing the fact that Kamala's earbud cable should be plugged into her phone "for it to work", but then for some strange reason brought up Afghanistan and immigration even though the topic was clearly the hurricane that happened and nothing else
Orange Man's time in Georgia was spent making first responders focus all their resources on protecting his fat ass, and bitching about Biden. He even made a podium out of random debris

Meanwhile CNN is acting like he's offering a message of unity and taking this seriously despite it being a photo op

It is really the most predictable and basic bitch Presidential candidate move and I don't fault him for it. You want to be seen on the ground in a disaster as a political figure. Even if you're just doing stupid shit like this or throwing rolls of paper towels at people, it gives you the ability to make the true statement "I was there, in the devastated cities".

Harris isn't doing herself any favors by avoiding the optics, as impractical and useless as it is. There's a lot of people suffering right now and a lot of attention is focused on it.

It is fucking dumb to turn it into a rally rant about unrelated shit though. The people standing there don't want to hear about Harris/Biden's border policy. They want to know when that FEMA check will arrive and where they're going to fucking sleep.

He's advocating for the purge. I've not seen the movie, so I'm not sure how the repercussions played out, however I doubt it was anything rooted in reality - because you're right about what that reality would look like.

It's absolutely absurd as a statement, and absolutely terrifying as a statement from a major party presidential candidate. Especially one under indictment for instigating a coup, because this idea is just a few steps above that. I don't think he's serious, but as we saw with J6 a large number of his idiot followers do think he's always serious. Do I think it will happen? absolutely not, but the statement itself is chilling.

Yeah it's great as an optics message to make himself look good. However, this is like the many other times where he had an opportunity to look presidential from the failed assassination attempt, RNC, and the Black Journalist event.

It just makes him look like an idiot to use these opportunities as a rally to knock down his opponents , he barely even pretends to try unifying people yet doesn't learn at all since he's mentally ill.

He's honestly carried by the fact that Biden is not that popular of a president.

There's something about Trump that's bothered me for a long time, from the very beginning when he started getting involved in politics. Granted, it's something I've noticed with most politicians since the Bush era, but Trump is a culmination of what it is I loathe. His articulation, his oratorical skills, the breadth of his lexicon, are painfully elementary. It's like modern politicians are allergic to multisyllabic words and complex sentence constructions during debate extemporizations and engagement with the public. He cannot actually debate, he can only point fingers, name call, and throw out baseless accusations with a reliance on abstract numbers ("millions and millions...") and /pol/-tier conspiracies ("transgender surgeries for illegal immigrant inmates", "post-birth abortions"...).

I've struggled to express why it bothers me so much and why I find it perturbing, but reading Carl Sagan's Foreboding of an America gave me a quote that summarizes perfectly why there has been persistent anti-intellectualism in politics, and why and how men like Donald Trump were able to climb up to such a high position of power (and still have the support of millions):
“I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grandchildren's time -- when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what's true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness...

The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance”

I don't see Trump helping his case much by going to NC and rambling about the border and how badly he wants a kristallnacht instead of saying "I will help you if I'm elected" but it's still a huge unforced error if Kamala doesn't show up too within the week

Doesn't help that Biden was interviewed earlier today and said he's given all the money he possibly can towards rebuilding efforts, about two days after he approved another $8 billion to Israel.

He lies so frequently and about so many things it became hard to figure out what is a truthful statement or a lie. In situations that involve giving power to some authority that he supports or supports him, I fully believe he is telling the truth. He really does want police to have the power and authority to act how HE wants them to act. If he doesn't want cops to be allowed to have "one really violent day,” or “one rough hour, and I mean real rough,” then why say it? It isn't a joke. There's no punchline. It is just a plan he has that he sees nothing wrong with.

For the purge movie series, it is just random people committing crimes against people they have grudges against, groups/gangs committing crimes, and the government sending out hit and death squads to kill/abduct anyone they don't like since it's legal... wait a second.

It's the normalization of TikTok brain in American politics. And it's terrifying. He's been successful catering to the lowest common denominator, arguably one that has always been there to an extent (poor, working class). But now the lack of reading comprehension, critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills that are more prevalent in that demographic is mainstream and profitable.

You don't get popular by being on legacy media anymore. No one gives a shit. You get popular by memes and 10 second reels of inflamatory or outrageous shit that temporarily stops your Pavlovian scrolling for dopamine. Trump succeeded in leveraging this like no one else has. I will never not credit him for unlocking the secret to authoritarian populism in the modern age by using fear and anger algorithms.

I think we're getting past that, and people are, on a larger scale, treating political messaging on social media as the garbage it is. But it's too late. The damage is done. Next we'll have to contend with AI political propaganda as it becomes more and more common and harder to detect. I'm not entirely convinced yet there won't be a major upheaval because of some really REALLY convincing AI video about something that sets people off.

This reminds me of the Putin video from the early Ukraine invasion where it looked like Putin's arm went through a microphone and people went gaga over calling it staged. Zelinski even lampooned it. Debate raged for days until we got bored.

There's plenty of reasons this picture can be completely legitimate otherwise. Maybe she had her buds plugged in but took them out to put the conversation on speakerphone so aids could hear? I still use wired buds on a C-type plug because I hate the unpredictability of Bluetooth.

Maybe she has another phone in her lap? She is the fucking VP for christssake. Having two lines isn't so out of the realm of normalcy. Maybe someone is on a call on that phone and the one on the table is on speaker so both she and who's on the mic'ed buds can hear?

Maybe that's her goddamn 2005 Ipod in her lap and she's bumping 2pac in her right ear? Who fucking cares. There's plenty of scenarios that don't involve this being some campaign psyop that only Trump is smart enough to point out.

Either way, it's all just stupid and arguing about it only feeds into the bullshit.
