I will add that around the time of the riots in one of the threads--election, Happenings, can't remember right now--there was talk of Trump crossing the Rubicon. He won't do that unless the country is done for. He's got more dirt and info on more people than anyone else, and he's not going to release that and implode the country. I'd rather be on the side of restraint and courage (not hyperbole, I challenge anyone to genuinely say that he hasn't shown these traits) then people who care nothing about their constituency and only about power, money, and being the "cool" kids in the room.

This sounds like like what a lot of European nations do: They may allow drinking or substance use at younger ages than the US, but the penalties for DWI or any sort of bad behavior under the influence is cracked down on and penalized accordingly. That's the way it should be.

I like your post. But the DNC isn't gonna groom, politically, younger talent. They salted the earth after 2008 to prevent someone from rising in the ranks like Obama. And to make sure Hillary go the nomination in 2016. They didn't plan on AOC winning her seat over the man Pelosi groomed to be her successor. Until the leadership over there at the dnc changes, the salting will continue. They will probably run Newsom or Whitmer in 28. And those are their young blood. Harsh crackdowns have been tried in the past, the Obama and Biden admins aren't the entirety of US history. Selling drugs is extremely profitable which allows the sellers to bribe police, judges, politicians and even banks that make billions off of laundering drug money. There are so many people with their hand in the trough there's no way you'll get the kind of across-the-board crackdown that could actually make a difference. Many wealthy and powerful people use drugs (Congress is the only federal employment sector without mandated testing) so they'll also stymie a strict ban. The genie's out of the bottle.

This doesn't make a ton of sense unless they plan to exclude marijuana from their indoor smoking bans. Cafes were popular in Amsterdam because those were the only places you could legally buy and consume cannabis outside of your home. In California, Oregon, and Washington, people just smoke while they walk down the street without repercussion from police. Why go inside to smoke when I can do it on the street?

Vance is good, so I expect him to win, especially with the CCP stuff coming out, but I fully expected the media to run with Walz unless Vance wins decisively and Walz has a meltdown on stage. As long as the media can get away with lying, they will continue to do so unless it's so catastrophic that they can't run the prepared headlines like what happened during the Biden debate.
