I'm starting to fall on the side of they know Trump will win, and the senate will flip, but they're doing all they can to steal the House. What Newscum just did feels like a direct attempt to counter the CA republicans learning how to ballot harvest, flipping some seats in '22 and even after two weeks of slow rolling vote counts they couldn't steal it. I just hope Trump's wave is enough to carry some of these seats in the east to stop whatever CA attempts, because this will be Newscum's attempt to show he's the '28 favorite.

The 2020 Democrat primary was the final nail in the coffin for me that democracy is nothing more than a joke. That's when Bloomberg was in and was getting 14% of the vote by dumping hundreds of millions into the race, and was the top contender for a brief bit.. I remember youtube videos of people asking Bloomberg supporters what he stood for and none of them could answer, cause he really didn't have a platform and they had just saw him on tv and apparently he was famous.

Then you’re frankly just wrong. There’s a very good reason Socrates spends so many of the platonic dialogues just getting to proper definitions of words and concepts. And why pretty much every law has a definitions section.

Words matter. Being able to properly articulate what we mean we say certain terms is very important.

If we don’t, for example, come to an agreeable meaning of “inadequate women’s healthcare” is, then it is impossible to determine whether or not healthcare in this country meets that muster. The entire discussion is pointless if people are just quibbling without ever even considering if they’re talking about the same thing. And it’s equally pointless if you’re not going to articulate what you mean when you use certain terms key to your argument. If you fail to properly define them, you’re not allowing us to fully assess your argument, including its hidden premises.
And that’s before we get into why it’s important to get definitions down to avoid the stupid game of “I get to use both the plain meaning and a term of art meaning depending on the context.”


Also, to get a little MATI for a moment: fuck off with this “we’re all adults here, CLEARLY that means we must all agree that these terms must mean the EXACT SAME THING, and if you don’t your clearly not an adult.” Fuck off with this rhetorical nonsense.

It is perfectly possible for reasonable adults to come to very different definitions on key terms. It does a disservice to the marketplace of ideas to pretend otherwise. And ignores the entire history of philosophy. If you can’t understand that, then you’re simply not ready for proper academic discussion, and are just arguing in bad faith.

In the great eastern kentucky floods which was a 1000 year flood just like what happened from Hurricane Helene that i personally lived through (the river rose 40 feet in one night and came a quarter mile up my yard to my front porch) the official death toll last time i checked stands at 33.

I personally knew two people that died from the flood (one who tread water for 20 hours and contracted pneumonia and died a few days later and a lady that suffered a heart attack while trying to reach higher ground) that are not on that list and have heard of dozens more that were never found. usually these are very elderly people with no remaining family or meth addicts that no one cares about.

I suspect only people who are officially determined to have drowned are counted to keep numbers down. if you are swept away and never found you are just "missing".

oh, and FEMA didn't do shit for us either. they out right denied claims for relief from people whose houses were reduced to bare concrete slabs. Private charities and state aid forces did most of the work.
