Because right after you get big streaming, you realize you get more attention for essentially being a face on a screen.

Jschlatt is a perfect example. Maybe other people have some different opinions on his old videos, but they took scripting, editing, and effort to make. But he realized that tiktok reaction videos made him more money than anything else. I am talking a >3 month video getting dwarfed twice over by something that charitably took a day sitting in front of a stream.

There are hundreds of channels that follow this path. Pyrocynical, Cr1t1kal, Michael Reeves, etc.

And the only reason I think, that old celebrities are not following that path themselves, is that they were dumb enough to be under contract by an agent. Otherwise they would spend every moment recording shitposts in their bedrooms on Cameo.

I think it's an extension of uselessness now being coveted. Like how influencer became a more popular job than being an astronaut.

I can understand where it comes from. In a world where no matter what, mediocrity seems to always be rewarded, and you can be lauded with praise and attention just for having a face people know, it can be easy to see it as desirable. Our entire economy for the past fifteen years or more has been about adding unneeded bloat. Why put in the effort, learning for years and years to be the best in your field, when you could skip the "rat race" entirely and have the same result or better? And when this thinking gets popular, it snowballs. More people give up, so it's easier to justify giving up yourself.

But the problem is, we need people who are actually good at things, to hold society afloat. No, more than that, to build a better, prosperous future. We have been divorced from the individual consequences we have on society for so long, and I think the "quiet quitting" of the entire world is going to catch up with us soon.

And on top of that, if you are actually good at things, it's like you get punished. So I work and pay taxes so that others can do neither of those things because stupid me still has a shred of shame and mistrust of leaving my life in the hands of others. At work I get called on to do more and more tasks because I actually can do those things, for now, because I'm frankly getting burned out. But zoomy zoom has to take another mental health day because they had a hard time adulting. There's going to be a point where there's not enough people like me to cover for the young ones. What are they going to do when they only have themselves?
My generation was already retarded and continues to be retarded but it's getting worse, like an AI trained on its own output.

Oh, my own zoomer generation is a bunch of useless retards. It makes me ashamed, not in a "Oh I wish I was born in the 90's the music was so much better", but a genuine distrust and lack of faith in anyone the same age range as me.

Maybe it's because I drifted off the main internet and never got into tiktok, twitter or the other fag socials, but I feel like I just woke up one day and everyone was hit by the stupid ray from futurama. And now I'm fry, the smartest man in the universe just because I stayed as dumb as I always was.

Recently, someone I know called a customer service line and the agent at one point asked if there was a "companion" there who could help. I get trying to be inclusive, but it makes more sense to simply ask if there is someone else available that can help without the need for cutesy language.

I think "mental health" has gone from one extreme to another in recent years.

In the past, and to some extent today, mental health had a negative stigma where people assume the worst that anyone having mental health issues are people with voices in their heads telling them to kill/harm others. As a result, anyone diagnosed with mental issues ends up perceived that way even if their issues are relatively minor or harmless.

Today, it seems like we've gone to the opposite extreme where people justify their apathy or lack of desire to do anything productive by claiming they need a "mental health" day.

It also doesn't help that the media overhypes every little thing to the point people get worked up over trivial matters. As a result, people now believe that feeling sad or upset over anything no matter how fleeting is a mental health issue.

Of every generation there are always people who are resilient against whatever destructive trends the rest of the culture is entangled in. I know young people who are incredible and I wish them well. It's going to be tough.

To be fair, the music was way better in the 90's... Hip-hop in particular peaked then.

Beyond that, I get the whole being freaked out by the brainrot that being always online has wrought on younger people though.

The Niggerization of language in this day and age both concerns and infuriates me. For some reason blacks seem to feel the need to abbreviate every word in the English language, the head niggers broadcast abbreviations to their nigger underlings, the nigger underlings then broadcast that via social media to impressionable (and retarded) young white men and women - and as such the English language is lobotomized more and more with each new TikTok trend and forced viral, algorithm driven, "meme". The same could be said for the Feminization and Sterilization of language - just replace "niggers" with "women and faggots", "lobotomized" with "castrated", and "TikTok" with "YouTube".
