Usually people don't see dressing up as a stereotypical Frenchman or Italian as "problematic" when there's no bad intent, or at least it still seems that way. But when someone dresses up as one of some "marginalized group", suddenly that makes SJWs REEE about "cultural appropriation" that, "disrespectful" this, and "racism" that -- based on delusions of "identity" as inherently collective, "identity" of "marginalized groups" as sacred, and all of a kind deemed "oppressor" as somehow "oppressors" inherently.
Meanwhile, back in the late 20th century, it wasn't such a big deal for white kids to play "cowboys and Indians" then -- even with "racism" still being seen as bad. To SJWs, what's not "problematic" is an ever-shrinking circle (if anything isn't "problematic").
