I know about the mermaid subculture. I remember a mermaid park in Florida years ago a cousin went and brought us pics and there were/are many other spectacles with them now too.

But as many other things mostly oriented towards girls, it's been taken over by gays, troons, and obese black women. Jazz's about 80% of those things and he's a mermaid enthusiast due to his inability to grow up.

There was a show on Discovery about people's obsessions. One was a gay guy who aspired to be the first WW MERMAN, but was rejected. They decided his act was too...suggestive...for a family friendly theme park. Had an impressive tail; dunno who made it.

Is it just me or does that mermaid tail look dangerous, like if you got into trouble in the pool, self-rescue would be tough?

It certainly looks like an awkward and extremely inefficient and tiring way of trying to swim.
Human body mechanics just don't seem to support it, like the people using them look to be expending more energy fighting the dumb mermaid tail than they are swimming, seems to me if you got into trouble that tail would be a liability, hopefully the design takes this into account and theres a quick release way to get out of it.

Manatees are fucking awesome. They're some of my favorite animals. They're so peaceful and friendly, they don't have any natural predators so they don't have any aggression or fear response, they'll come right up to your boat and nose around, they come up to you swimming too but its extremely illegal to interact with them because its not good to encourage them to get too close to people, because sadly they're slow and they spend a lot of time just under the surface so they get hurt by boat propellers, I've seen some of the big derpy guys with huge scars on their backs.

Well, you are simply incorrect. I have identical twin siblings. Indistinguishable when they were kids but now they're adults, quite different. One is considerably taller than the other, for a start.

That's honestly really interesting. What do you think caused the height difference? Is one more careful about diet? Did one have a serious illness (bad case of pneumonia, meningitis) while they were still growing but the other didn't?

Exulansic strikes me as knowing social etiquette and would probably want to be as minimally impactful to those around her as possible. She studies people; she'd be polite and expedient. She's not a stunted man-baby like Sander is.

IDK. Genetics, maybe. Diet probably played a part (I can't go into detail as it would be too much of a PL) but I think it's mainly very minor genetic variation.

After Gruffin died, when she was telling people on her Twitter to stop harassing the family but kept going on and on about Gruffin to keep them riled up - that sealed it for me. She's not serious about wanting change. She's just a ghoul. That's when my opinion of her changed. She doesn't identify with them. She's not a real detransitioner. She's just a very strange person who finally found a way to get attention by mocking them openly.

Sander by contrast seems to be able to maintain friendships and buy things without help from others. (Jazz can't, Jazz had to call mom from the store for help, but he seems reasonably competent.)

Oh no, she's autistic as shit. I guess she studies people, but more in the cliche'd "alien studying humanity" way. In practice, she frequently makes autistic social faux pas. Especially because she's had weird terf sleepovers with some of the other low level terf youtubers, that have since devolved into hilarious dramatic slapfights online. She said / she said type quarrels involving dog bites and hospital visits and weed.

Troons are the worst and absolutely the biggest threat, don't get me wrong, but there's some serious lolcows on the terf side as well. As troonery gets more scrutiny in big boy society, any of the competent terfs are up speaking in Congress and lobbying and whatnot, and the useless, lolcow terfs are just left behind to get into silly terf drama fights on youtube / twitter.

And I'd say Exulansic is only minimally impactful publicly.

If I did the same with Exulansic, the banter would start off smarter, but any good natured shit-flipping would be met with her seething and making references in youtube videos 6 months later.
