I watched it when Vance was announced as VP. Extremely average movie, some good performances, but it's very cliche and nothing new.

What do you mean, "cliche" and "nothing new"? Are you retarded? It's not a fictional story, you know that, right?

The absolute real drama, that really happened, that the movie portraits is fucking heartbreaking, to any normal person.

You gotta be delusional to call that movie "extremely average", on this day and age. It's better than 90% of the shit I watched in the past five or so years. Especially if you care about acting. It has really good acting (mostly. Not all actors are mind-blowing), with spot-on casting (Amy Adams and Glenn Close are absolutely phenomenal here), and fantastic music (by Hans fucking Zimmer holy shit!).

The directing and editing could be better, but it's good enough to at least not get in the way of the story and characters. The lighting and color grading are really professional, though.

You gotta be either an artistic snob or an emotionless bastard to call this movie "extremely average". It's pretty good!

Solid 7.5/10, if you're not a psychopath, a kid or seriously autistic.

I sorta recognize that name Jeff tiedrich and I'm not even really a media consoomer, who is he? Was he in to cheese pizza type shit or just have a name made for it?
He's one of those faggy reply guys who posted on every tweet that Trump made. I'm pretty sure that's literally his only claim to fame.

You're right that people like Walz should be opposed and no one should forget the fucked up shit him and others did during COVID. However, a lot of the overreaching police state stuff that Walz did in Minnesota was due to St. Floyd, not COVID - the famous video of National Guard soldiers shooting people with paintballs was over a riot curfew regarding Floyd, not COVID restrictions.

All I was saying was that I find Walz more palatable than Kamala and I liked that he was actually polite and respectful to Vance. I honestly wasn't expecting you to hit me with a collection of finest hits from Minneapolis.
I didn't mean to hit you personally. Apologies if I came across that way. It's just that the Covid years are a sensitive time, for me. Sometimes I get passionate about the topic.
I still appreciate you. ❤️

If one party remains in control for a decade I'd call that a decade of existence as a one-party state.
There's actually more than just two political parties out there, in the scenario where the Democrat party dies out one of the other parties (probably either Green Party or Libertarian Party) would potentially take their place, or a new party would form with Obama's endorsement and the ex-Democrats would probably all flock there. In the latter scenario, this "new party" wouldn't really be new anyway and if anything I would guess they would just be more mask off about what their goals are.

My hope is that eventually all political parties are banished and everyone has to run as an Independent, but last time I brought that up people were convinced the same parties would live on in the background.

You realize impoverished people ascending beyond their upbringing is a story older than time, right? Just because JD Vance is a real person doesn't change that. It was a cookie-cutter movie that went through all the cliche story beats; if you think it wasn't generic you need to watch more movies.

You're letting current politics effect your view of a very average movie.

I really despise this guy. Jeff Tiedrich is like an 8 year old's idea of edgy.

Crying about Trump for 8 fucking years, and yet he only seems to come back into existence whenever it looks like he's about to win.
And lying about it at that...the fact that these people are still lying about Jan 6th really blows my mind.

why do you guys always want to cut programs and social security instead of removing the massive military bloat with contractors upon contractors upon contractors

That sounds a whole lot like giving them $750 to fuck off and not talk about how they didn't want to do shit until Trump rubbed their nose in the fuck up.

He must have gotten the most mind-shattering heart-seizing head of all time, god damn
How else is Harris going to get his support?

Shit, I guess just because similar stories happen to some people, God was just fucking lazy when he made JD go through that one, so it's lame.

God forbid someone connect with stories about real people, who went through real shit, just because it has happened before.

Someone please explain to me, how the hell do you look at a real life story, about a real someone and go "meh, I've heard this story before. I don't feel anything when you tell me your story, because it's not original enough"?
How is that not highly autistic?

The Democratic Party is probably the best funded political party in the world. I know I spoke the other day about the party potentially splintering, but it’s not going anywhere and they’re not abandoning it. What I see more likely is that they’ll lose their trajectory and will open the ground for more independent options ok the states, though that’s only if they don’t make it outright illegal to be on the ballot if you don’t have a (D) next to your name.

Reminder that he’s the Awkward Zombie Writer’s Father (Brawl in the Family was better).

I don’t think he really hates Trump for any reason beyond Trump being there. He’s a almost seventy year old man with an autistic Jewish Daughter who likely will never meaningfully give him a grandchild (I think Katie shares his politics and got her tubes tied, not sure but I believe she is actually is one of those people who is technically a rocket scientist stealing money from you because NASA has no actual goals), dude needs something for his time. In most people it’d be a grandpa taking his grandkid to the park or zoo, or teaching them a skill. He’s an angry retiree looking to get angrier about nothing, he doesn’t actually need to work again.

Do I even have to say it? Is he paid to tweet like that?
I think he actually did get given money like Brooklyn Dad (who has a thread) by a PAC.

The last time any changes happened with this thread, users sperged about it for like a week straight like it was a massive janny conspiracy to kill discourse. If it could be done without any shitflinging, we'd probably have a new thread because trying to do things like merging a doublepost takes forever with colossal threads.
Can we plan to start a new thread on inauguration day, whichever way this thing goes?

Both the two parties in America would be multiple parties in Europe. Each one has 2-4 parties in it that stick together in one party for the purposes of being more effective electorally. There is nothing wrong with this at all. Except when party leadership starts ignoring large sections of the party, like the GOPe did. But that situation corrected itself in the form of Trump/MAGA without needing to break the party up

Look at France. Look at Germany. The political right there did the same thing, except the right really did splinter, with the result that the 55-60% right-wing (for them) majority of the electorate has neutered itself by allowing a split between Les Republicains and the Le Pen people, and in Germany between the CDU/CSU and the AfD. The result has been the center-left establishment leaderships of the "right-wing" parties continuing to survive in both places
