Are videogames for children?

Last Train Home surprised me. I like Company of Heroes real-time pausing combat with cover mechanics and stealth etc, but CoH was always too convoluted for me. Last Train Home is a bit more modern but add the base management part of yknow, having a fucking train.

On another note: Do anyone actually enjoy the scripted kind of xcom games? Like you go into a mission thinking "5v8, best one wins", but then all manner of scripted events and spawns show up? It feels unfair every single time and often it's pure luck if you somehow avoid having bunched up on the "unkillable tutorial guy you gotta flee from" or not.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 has a "survive 4 rounds" mission and while I can understand it's meant to be hectic, spawning 6 people on top of a boss who literally removes the flaming barrel napalm mechanic introduced >THE SAME MISSION makes no sense. It doesn't feel good to beat such a mission.

Valkyria Chronicles as a franchise is weird and I don't like how it prioritizes rushing missions as quickly as possible when my first inclination is to be careful and strategic. I say this having played 1, 2 3 and 4 because I enjoy the setting and general aesthetic. I wish they'd fuck off with the ranking system being the deciding factor for money/upgrades so I could take my time.

Been looking at getting a decent open-world game for a while now; I've played most of the popular ones, so I was looking for something new. I've already played several Elder Scrolls titles, multiple Fallout games, Cyberpunk, Dragon's Dogma, Ghostwire, Elden Ring, Watch Dogs... anyone have any others? I tried giving that Mafia: Definitive Edition game a chance a while back, but I found it to be a buggy mess; think I should try and give it another chance?

FarCry 2 was extremely enjoyable. I spent so much time gunning down feral Africans in the name of selling them more weapons, stealing their conflict diamonds, and buying more weapons to kill more Africans and steal their diamonds.

Anything for PS4/5? I'll try and take a look at FC2 once my PC is in better shape.

Ever play any of the Arkham games? They're a little dated but I think they're worth playing if you haven't. Not a fan of supporting rocksteady right now though.

Yep! Played the first three on PS3; GREAT fun, City was my favorite, though Origin's multiplayer was also a blast, and Asylum's exploration was quite nice. Never did give Knight a try; I was thinking about picking it up, but given the shit Rocksteady's pulled, especially with that Suicide Squad game... yeah, it's a bit bitter to know that the series ends on such a shit note.

Ghost of Tsushima? I'm playing it right now and it's scratching my open world action itch good.

Both City and Asylum were good. I'm going to give the edge to Asylum for having a tighter gameplay loop. City was good too and better in several aspects but the whole open-world aspect didn't work in its favor and was more disconnected, separate levels.

Knight is excellent and the Tank combat is more of a puzzle than a button masher.

I'm not sure I'd call it the best, as Rocksteady preferred to be original instead of rehashing classic boss fights/ Riddler puzzles. It has by far the smoothest and best implemented moves, challenges and general gameplay.

I'd say City, Origins and Knight are all worth playing. Asylum is a bit dated, and it's frustrating certain upgrades can only be unlocked in particular unrepeatable rooms.

Play them in release order so you don't feel the lack of later improvements.

Going back to my earlier question a bit; does anyone here have opinions on Mafia: Definitive Edition? I was thinking about giving the game another try, because I've that it does get a lot better when you get further in, but I was curious if anyone had any thoughts on it. I stopped playing it last time because of bugs; kept on having to restart missions because the game failed to load in various ways, mostly by not spawning enemies and blocking doors to prevent progress. Still, I was curious if it was worth giving another shot?

I enjoyed it aside from the horrible, horrible racing mission. Gunplay was fun, unique setting.

This might be me just overreacting and falling down the rabbit hole. However a game called Hauntify popped up into my recommendation. Now I'm always annoyed when influencer slop sneaks into my internet enjoyment. However a game that scans your home sets off major alarm bells. I am not tech literate nor do I know how the game is programed though to me this game seems like a potential privacy/security risk. I am holding back my tinfoil hat, but I could see how such a product could be abuse.

Could anyone recommend a lore/story synopsis channel with longer videos (>1h) focusing on cold facts, instead of wild fanficion and flowery tales like Vaati? I'm looking for something to listen to when I'm cooking, and while I've managed to find a couple of videos (like the 6h metal gear timeline) and a single channel doing exactly what I'm looking for, the more I look for those kind of story supercuts, the more I find they're mostly editorialized videos where some neckbeard chomo-looking british/aussie man gushes about the cOmPlExItY and profoundness of a franchise, speculates more than summarizes, and it's just a front for his merch store or patreon.

Picked up No Man's Sky a few weeks ago, having a lot of fun with it. The ship handling and space combat leave much to be desired (coming from somebody who used to play Elite Dangerous in VR before setting it aside as it was eating up my life), but the gameplay loop of discovery and grinding is satisfying. I have a feeling I'm going to plateau soon because I've gotten most of the more nifty features and items that people work for. Started playing with a friend and I have a feeling that will help keep my interest.

Also picked up an OG Xbox through Facebook marketplace the other day, along with a bunch of games I never got around to playing (first two Splinter Cell titles, Crimson Skies, some other Tom Clancy stuff, etc) as well as some classics I haven't played in almost twenty years (LOTR: The Two Towers, Halo 2, GTA trilogy). Once I exhaust the novelty I might try my hand at modding it, just to say I did.

Has anyone seen this yet? Some indie dev who made Sushi Ben is provoking people by calling games woke, and made a response if Sushi Ben is woke. I do know that Sushi Ben has "neopronouns" in this game. Some say that it turned out to be a false flag. I'll just leave the sources and you can tell me your thoughts about Sushi Ben.

Replace or remove the clock cap before it's too late. There're guides on the internet to do that. Models 1.6 and 1.6b require the cap to boot up, earlier ones can work just fine without it.
Thanks for the heads up, good looking out. I haven't taken it out of my car yet, the lady I bought it from was selling it for her son and said it'd been in storage for years. I'll investigate it this week. She said she'd refund me if it didn't work; and she lives locally so I'm not too worried one way or the other.

Why is the thread no longer pinned?
I was wondering the same thing. I first noticed it was unpinned right after Null mentioned the subforum on MATI, so maybe he did it.
