I honestly think this is the most likely scenario. Birdie will talk sexually to a child not because she's attracted to them, but because she talks that way to everyone, and then she'll use the aroace defence. I don't even think there's a high chance of that happening, I think Birdie is just smart enough to see the downfall of Synni and wants to avoid being like her in any capacity. Wrong, but I can see why this is a common misconception. Not all grooming is sexual. Grooming is essentially manipulation, which is why young kids being exploited by older people with sexual activity is referred to grooming. Though, it's unlikely to happen again, as Birdie's only real friend left them, I doubt they'll trust anyone again. Which is just... sad but I have a hard time feeling sympathy for them because they've clearly never put any effort into interacting with people outside of the internet even after they escaped their shitty parents.
