according to the news article link below, they already have an asian male protagonist, so a change might not be that absurd at all, if ubisoft is desperate enough.
‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Originally Featured Male Japanese Main Character
Yeah no, not in 3 fucking months. They would need new cut scenes, new dialogue, etc. Sure the game early on might have had an asian guy but that changed a while ago and a lot with it. What are they going to do, swap it for an asian guy named Yasuke? With a character model that's also looks like a 6 foot tall 270 pound NFL player? Come on. If anything it'll serve as an excuse for while it's sales were crap.
February 2025 is being chosen because Ubisoft believes there will be a AAA gaming drought around that time period.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Civilization 7
Avowed
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii(featuring one of the most popular characters in the series with new combat mechanics to go with it)
Monster Hunter Wilds
February isn't even normally a "gaming drought" month. That's January since most publishers got their games out the door prior to the Christmas season so they could maximize sales, so that just makes no damned sense.

A February gaming drought? No. The article you posted was just quoting some nonsensical bullshit out of a grifter(endymion), who uses sites like that as a source. It's a circle jerk. And if you think there's so much DEI bullshit involved in this wokeslop assassin's creed game that they had to make a black guy the main character in a game set in 16th century Japan, what do you think the response is going to be if they deleted him for an asian dude?
Ubisoft still has the rest of their upcoming games they need to make sure aren't going to turn into a 100+ million dollar loss, and their known release calendar is so fucking dire the only thing they have even as "coming soon" besides this AC bullshit is Anno 117.
They also have an AC mobile game set in China that we know nothing about(other than it being a safe bet it won't feature a black person as the main character), but no date. A mobile version of The Division, which realistically no one is going to want as a fucking shooter on a phone since it isn't colorful slop bullshit like fortnite or apex. And anything else isn't even slated for 2025 because it's been stuck in development hell for years like the Prince of Persia remake that they had to start over on a couple years back, a teaser for the next AC bullshit "hexe" whatever that means, probably just wandering around Europe as a gypsy. Beyond Good and Evil 2, which has probably been in some state of development or another since 2008 when it was announced. A Splinter Cell remake, for a franchise they haven't done a damned thing with in 14 years.
A company like ubisoft cannot have games not getting out the door for a year. Especially after Outlaws and it's supposed failure selling only a million copies on a 200+ million dollar budget. What has ubisoft done to pull in revenue for investors in 2024?
Prince of persia the lost crown. Not exactly a high budget game, but some people seem to have liked it
Skull & Bones, which was shit and sat in development hell for ages because they couldn't get their way out of a contract with the government of Singapore to produce a game
Rainbow 6 Mobile? lol
SW Outlaws
XDefiant, another fucking f2p shooter that's already looking at having money dedicated to content production being cut after 6 months
