Ubisoft Sellout - Bankruptcy Speedrun Any% Thread

I know the conference call has been discussed but I didn't see this part called out yet

So it's the GAMERS at fault for expecting better than mediocre experiences of AAA games with 100+ million dollar budgets before marketing costs. Upper management desperately needs to be gutted, and I don't know how the investors haven't gotten together to boot Guillemot yet.
Extraordinary experiences can't be created by design, or even on purpose. The games that created or defined genres did so by mistake. Very few, if any, devs that went to raise the bar did so, with almost all failing with their loft expectations.
It is the games made from passion, for the sake of being a game and a personal creation, that are still memorable, and sometimes unique, decades later. While some games can never recreate the magic of nostalgia, or the move from 2D to 3D and the fascination that came with it, that's through no fault of their own.

Give us games, not experiences. Give us passion, not platitudes and marketing. Give us games that are just games. We, the customer, will tell you if it's an extraordinary experience. That is not for the devs to decide.

Remember when he said we should get used to not owning our games?.. I think he should get used to not being CEO of a game company, because Ubisoft is about to not exist. :story:

This is the third ubisoft game maybe 4th I've failed to realize it even released. Not once with another publisher though.

I'm honestly impressed it did that well. Although even a million copies at $70 a pop for most of them, when the total budget was supposedly between 200-300 million is kinda shit lol.
It was probably running just off the Star Wars name. We have a whole generation of parents that will buy stuff for their kids to shut them up combined with Disney adults thst consume anything with star wars on it.

The real kicker is the rumor that the next AC game only has 7% of the pre orders of the last one.

To be fair, this is from the same source that hinted that Yasuke might get removed from the game, which is not going to happen under any circumstance, so I have my doubts. I would believe it's less than previous entries.

Even as a potential rumor that's just fucking absurd. Re-working practically the entire game in 3 months? While setting it up to launch on multiple platforms at once instead of just console? Not a fucking chance in hell.

It'd also be extremely expensive for an already expensive game, and for pretty much no profit. Ubisoft already made their bed, they've repeatedly insulted the nation of Japan, and they cannot pull back lest they get completely lambasted by the media and their own activists within the company. Either cancel the game or release it as is.

Yeah the time and cost required to do that would be absurd, and the outrage if they just swapped Yasuke's model and whatever relevant dialogue so he was no longer the "legendary black samurai" would be something even ubisoft would be unwilling to swallow. The short delay is likely just some bug fixes(considering how many made it into the trailers... ffs) and shit to sell it on steam in addition to the ubislop launcher. All the while praying the bad press eventually dies down(it won't, and maybe hoping for some sympathy from selling it during black history month.

I'll just remind everyone, Black History Month is a US only thing. I doubt Ubi cares much. Though it really doesn't gel well with the traditional spring gaming period starting in March so maybe they're on to something with it.

It reads as a desperation for quality and pushing it out of the media spotlight to "reset" the controversy clock. On the brightside for ubislop, dragon age is going to bomb just as hard as most ubi games have this year, but it could hurt ubi too by being a "woke" failure (actually just a bad game that has wokeshielding going on).

I haven't played a ubigay game since far cry primal. And I played that one because "prehistory" and animal shit, not because its good. I'm amazed these are the same people who did beyond good and evil, from dust and Rayman legends, they really shouldn't have made far cry 3.

Lost Crown sold over 800k, to give you an idea. PoP isn't exactly a strong IP these days, yet Star Wars is struggling compared to it. Then again, not being on Switch isn't helping Outlaws either.
Nigger of Persia underperformed too, but it had a smaller budget and probably lower expectations, unlike with Tranny Wars.

I really want to know which cadre of big-wigs OK'd this steaming pile of turd to begin with. These sort of games takes years to make, and multiple leads would have to have signed off on the direction of this shit. Must be one hell of a bubble if they didn't just grab a Japanese or three and asked if this would even fly.
