Not only did they not drop it they went full frog and made it even more retarded. One of the later games (Unity or maybe Syndicate) changed it from "various faiths and religious beliefs" to "various faiths, sexual orientations and gender identities"

To be fair, it was somewhat justified for that game because they were essentially taking the muslim side against the christians in the story, and since the presumption was that tensions were high in America against muslims in 2007 still, it was pragmatic to add a disclaimer to prevent outrage. I'm not justifying the practice in general though, it's just a stupid ESG justification tactic now.

Ubisoft got way too big, then #MeToo and DEI got rid of all the creatives. In an ideal world, Yves Guillemot would make Ubisoft private, shut down a bunch of unnecessary studios, fire the DEI politburo and keep the remaining few talented folks in and stop outsourcing each part of a game to different Ubi studios all over the globe that barely speak a common language.

Quality aside, they sure saved the company from bankruptcy. People forget how close they were to getting bought out in the early 2010s. This is also worth noting. AC has become weird pseudo live service RPG slop which makes the games aggressively unfun to play. The last AC I played extensively was Odyssey which felt like I was forcing my dick through broken glass more often than I was ever having fun.
