I think you people just are remembering hard enough. My memory of my school years is relatively good. Its a brainwashing problem for sure. I remember in school as early as 3rd grade we were talking about abortion. By 5th grade we were holding debates about abortion, with the teacher clearly leading us to the "Pro Lifers are crazy religion nuts people". In high school, I remember in history class doing an entire history lesson on Islam, going over Quaran and the Five Pillars. Of course we ignored the thousands of years of bloodthirsty violence, but rather praised them as the religion of love and peace and their architecture and empire building. We sure as fuck never talked much about Israel and Palestine.

I cannot tell how you many units on racism we did. I can't even imagine how it would be during the George Floyd days. Not many teachers would be honest about this stuff. I remember my parents asking me what's wrong with these kids and all I can think of is back to school and this months long lesson on Islam we did. I know a lot of people seem to wonder why millennials are the way they are. It's been bred into them for nearly a decade of brainwashing to think these things. It's very hard to get out.

February, March, and the WW2 part of history classes are where I remember the brainwashing hard.

The annoying thing is that an agency an whos main task is to stockpile supplies and train when everything is calm and when shit hits the fan they coordinate rescue and recovery efforts (from fed, state, and civilian volunteers), distribute said supplies to those in need, and provide shelter while displaced people put their lives together isn't a bad agency to have and is pretty easy to justify it's existence when the US is prone to nasty storms and wildfires.

The problem is that FEMA wasn't ment to be that agency. It was formed as a plan B government body in case the US got nuked in the Cold War (with lots of scary extra judicial powers too) and it got boot straped as the agency that over sees natural disasters in order to justify it's existence to the public (especially when the Cold War ended). So we don't actually have a Natural Disaster Agency, instead we have the Feds body double using natural disasters as photo ops and gain public trust while they help carry out some of the feds unsavory agendas on the down low.
