Alright, I think I’m sold on Emerald Enhanced. I don’t know who first decided Pokemon should have an achievement system with rewards, but they deserve an award.

If you're into this sort of thing and you want rewards for your "official" vanilla games, I suggest giving Trigger's PC a try. I talked about it before, it's basically Pokemon Bank for your third gen games(GC games included), one of it's features is giving you rewards for completing objectives(usually finishing the game). Those include: Hard to get berries, Bankable Legendary Pokemon, Tickets to catch even more Bankable Legendary Pokemon, or the ability to use both bikes at the same time. Works with every save file, even romhacks(if they can be read by the software that is)
So what's the best way to play each generation (or at least the first three)? I know it's a very subjective question, but it feels like a new improvement/enhancement/balance/full-Pokedex/whatever-the-fuck hack is released every week, and I've lost count.

For what it's worth, I prefer hacks that don't alter base stats/moves/type matchups. I'll make an exception if something like that is altered to match a newer game, but that's it.
For the Third Generation, I would suggest playing Revelation Emerald if you want a minimalist QoL romhack, I already talked about it ITT. Since they fall into the third generation, Grand Colosseum and XG: NeXt Gen are also fantastic GC title romhacks.
As for the first two gens, I haven't tried any for now, but base FRLG and HGSS are good enough for me.

Since we're talking about Pokemon fangames here, I just like to say I like ones that shake up the formula or broad changes for the better or worse, because they're fun to see someone's mindset on what they could consider better or worse. I like insane shit in my Pokemon games because vanilla ain't cutting it for me anymore.

Even though I know an intern or social media grunt is behind these simple posts, it hurts so much...

Forget what I said here, didn’t realize Enhanced was a Kaizo hack. So much work and so many new features, and they never thought to include difficulty settings *sigh*
Relax, the cool thing about Enhanced is that you will rotate your team a lot, so you will be able to have multiple 100 or 125 pokemons and the game isn't hard at all.

I spent the whole day playing the Volt White Redux and I am so fucking angry.

They left the final mission behind watching all 650 pokémon except not all of them are in the game and you must breed or do some mumbo jumbo. I just wanted go fight N and ghetsis again with my shiny Masquerain.

I spent literally the whole afternoon catching legendaries and doing missions until: lol you need a permit to go to this island and fight ghetsis and N again lol.

Holy fuck why would you do this?

Alright, here's my write-up on TCG Pocket...
  • The app itself is very pretty, it's honestly a better glow-up than TPCi's TCG Live app.
  • Missions are a great way to get items like Pack Hourglasses (which can be used to speed up the pack timer to an extent), Wonder Pick Hourglasses (which are similar to Pack Hourglasses but function on a different time conversion table), Shop tickets (which can be exchanged for the first two items, card cosmetics, and certain promo cards), and Shine Dust (which can be traded alongside excess cards for an additional holo effect called Flair that can be applied to cards).
  • Matches go by quickly due to the changes they made to TCG's rules.
  • You can play against other people and play a computer opponent in two different modes with the latter having different levels of difficulty.
  • You’re given “rental” decks for completing certain missions that can be used in the game’s single-player mode.
  • The pack openings are better than Live's by a wide margin.
  • AFAICT monetization is surprisingly light, purchases only consist of PokéGold (which can be used to open packs in the form of cutting the timer down by two hours per PokéGold unit) and the monthly premium pass (which nets you an extra pack every 24 hours and access to premium missions that nets you items and promo cards) the first two weeks are also free.
  • Once you complete your daily missions, open one-to-two packs (depending on how long you wait between plays), do a Wonder Pick, and get a few matches in there’s not much else to do in the game. TPCi’s Pokémon TCG Live app suffers from this as well but you can at least use it to practice the IRL game if you’re competitive.
  • You‘ll be opening a fair amount of packs before you see anything higher than a three-diamond rarity card, even more so if you‘re hunting cards like the new Immersive Illustration Rares and Crown Rares.
  • The Pack and Wonder Pick Hourglasses you get in the shop have a hard limit on how many you can get, once you reach that limit you can’t get any more until the shop resets (which is assumed to be monthly).
  • A meta has already formed in regards what decks are the best for matches, it’s currently a toss-up between Pikachu ex decks and Starmie ex/Articuno ex decks.
  • Rental decks, despite being limited to single-player mode and not actually adding the cards to your collection, have 10-use limits and it makes no difference if you win or lose the match.[/ISPOILER]

Great taste. Love my leafy boi. One of these days I'm going to run some game with Leavanny, Paras and the grass-type Wormadam. It'll be great
Ran one during my playthrough of White 2. Even though I still like Scolipede more, Stitches (my Leavanny) was such an asset.

Game that literally forces you to discard pokemon and only use new wild ones, limited heals, with implied edginess...but remembering girls and boys and str8s exist is too much
I can understand removing gender locked evolutions, the Ralts line are supposed to be knights no matter what and having to search for a specific pokemon gender to get the evolution you want can be a bit annoying. But making attract work no matter what on either gender seems like a bad idea, infatuation is a pretty strong effect giving the afflicted pokemon a 50% chance to fail a move on the pokemon which they are infatuated with, combined with paralysis, flinch, and confusion it can be really oppressive and it's only really balanced by how niche it is.

Saw this rom being recommended, then saw this in its bug ugfixes:

There was a neat remake of FF1 that added new classes like the Geomancer, Green Mage, and Dragoon. The minute the developer decided to put pronoun shit in the game was when I stopped playing it.

Just finished reading Pokemon Special Black and White 2. All that sour taste of the first manga was fixed here. It was indeed the same story and that is why it felt uncooked if you only read those first 9 volumes.

Man what a great series, I still can't understand why they never decided to make an anime series out of all of special. It is literally one of the greatest manga for kids that exists. First I felt that RS was my favorite arc, then DPPT appeared and then BWBW2.

Now for X and Y... I never played the games ao I am not sure if I should play first before going into it.

And that cliffhanger with Colress and the Magician being Blake 1 (what a funny villain)

I need help looking for a video I came across randomly years ago that I laughed my ass off over. It was an animation channel, and the host was talking about their most frustrating battle in Black/White 2 which was against a Pokéfan's Clefairy in Celestial Tower. The title was something like "Why I Hate Clefairy", or that was the thumbnail and it was more like "The Worst Battle I Ever Had". Anyone know what I'm talking about?
