They need to be careful about their priorities. Halo is about the gameplay, not the graphics.
I find it interesting that they are going by Halo Studios now.
Still better in terms of optics than naming the company after the Chief's enemy.

Looks like they are already showcasing things for that Halo CE remaster using UE5. It's not the game itself, just showing off the ideas they have.

More generic photoreal Megascans Unreal slop shit. How hard can it possibly be for them to just copy Halo 3's artstyle? Why do they think Forerunner stuff looks like polished stainless steel? Them using UE5 now just means that on top of being a laggy piece of shit it will also be 150gb and look like a blurry piece of shit as well. I'm so fed up with Microsoft Halo.

Default Unreal lens flare means zero care about what they were making at all.

Why the fuck does Halo CE even need a remake? I am so fucking tired of modern gaming's obsession with reboots, remakes, and remasters of games that do not need them
new art style looks like soulless shit and dumbass devs once again don't understand fancy graphics mean nothing without gameplay

Please just let this IP die already, split bungie and 343 lore into two different universes, call it a day, and just let this franchise die already

They mention in the video that Halo CE's graphics were revolutionary. Correct me if I'm wrong, no it wasn't. In terms of fidelity it was more well known for its scale. Halo CE has large levels that weren't really seen before at the time. And in terms of the actual graphics it self seeing the jump in quality between games. Each new release had very noticeable improvements but weren't necessarily bleeding edge.

It's on life support. They make random shit now, there's a Halloween Operation this month, then a third-person mode for multiplayer in November.
kong slayer was pretty fun. I'll take that over more retards overhyping TDM and CTF and acting like its not the bread and butter of pvp multiplayer since forever.

Because they're essentially LARPing as nazi's in fictional media at this point where they just use ancient technology and ideas and don't make anything of their own.

Pretty much. Not many games from that era besides Unreal had the kind of large scale levels and setpieces that Halo CE did. Let alone functional vehicles that you could enter/exit at any time and combined arms warfare on consoles via splitscreen and LAN.

This Halo Studios name change reeks of corporate thinking.
"Everyone hates Halo now and it's devs! Do we fire and replace the people in charge? Actually do work? Not hire contractors?"
"No... it's a bad name."

Look, naming a company to make games for a series after one of its main antagonists
Though I think that's partly because 343 fucked up unbelievably hard, if they did a decent job, I'm certain people would look on it as how Guilty Spark was the defender and keeper of Halo
was hardly a brilliant idea, it was something. Halo Studios does get down to the point, but the logo and name are so empty. Point is, just because the Socialist Republic is now the People's Democratic Republic doesn't change the fact that Enver Hoxha is building a thousand bunkers or the 343 leadership are still there and are awful at their jobs. The switch to Unreal... eh, more people able to work on it (which could be just as bad) and ease of being able to tune it with less issues is a double edged sword. I don't think it'll save Halo, but it's something, and that's a lot more than what we've had recently.

I really like the move to UE5. Their proprietary engine made them responsible for maintaining a completely custom and likely massive piece of software with a lot of weird and/or annoying kinks.

With UE5, they get access to a talent pool of people with years of experience working in Unreal, so no need to bring people up to speed with your own engine and its quirks. You get access to well maintained documentation, a community of thousands that already have solutions for your problems, and just an all around more robust and battle-tested piece of software. The move won't save Halo by itself, but it is a good move no matter how you look at it.

When I first saw the announcement I was confused to say the least, and watching the video I was laughing to myself. This whole Foundry shit is all just empty words and UE5 showcases that a 16 year old could make in his free time. I get why they announced it right now, but at the same time this would've been infinitely more impactful if they had an actual game or something to show off to go with the whole restructuring. I genuinely don't think that they're making a CE remaster, I think that whatever they've shown off in this video is just a bid to show Halo fans that "we're sticking with the classic art style guys, we aren't 343 anymore!!! please forget about Halo 4 and 5!!!!" What a fucking joke, can't wait for them to make some visually impressive games that play like shit or aren't supported at all like they've always fucking done.

well maintained documentation
This isn't true, go look at the docs yourself, the most they did was take some new screenshots for the UE5 UI, other than there are pages that haven't been updated since 2014 and there are just a bunch of undocumented features. Also when they moved to the new documentation site it broke a bunch of the 4.27 pages and they don't care to even fix them. They even went and shut down the community run documentation for no discernable reason. They also went and deleted all the historical docs as well.

Xbox Research Manager Melissa Boone is Advancing Diversity in Gaming

Spelman Sister Melissa Boone has a doctorate in sociomedical sciences and social psychology from Columbia University (what a mouthful — you go girl!). When not writing fan fiction or campaigning in Dungeons and Dragons, this Black female druid serves as a research manager at Xbox. Boone has honed her skills through the doldrums of academia, trudged through a market research internship to end up leading a team whose job is to support advancing Microsoft’s commitment to diversity. It was there, Boone says, “It seemed like a place that I could really find my enjoyment, my passion,” and where she “could learn and grow.” BGN sat down virtually to find out how Boone applies her Black druid magic on the world of Microsoft.

Boone identifies as pansexual. “One of the things we love about Microsoft is we talk so openly about diversity, inclusion, and specific areas of that. We talk a lot about intersectionality.

RIP Halo

It's one aspect of their shitty art style that they refuse to let go. Forerunner structures are supposed to be thousands of years old, so it doesn't make any sense for them to look like they just came out of an Apple store.
I would argue that the sentinels are capable of cleaning the structures. While they shouldn't be spotless, and they should have some grime, I think thr bigger issue is how bright, shiny, and overly complicated the designs were, instead of keeping simpler designs with a darker color scheme, and focusing on the brutalist architecture thst once was. Now it's all spires and floating platforms. Very citadel from Mass Effect like.

But is she passionate about Halo in the same way O'Donnell, Salvatori, and the others at Bungie were?
