Hurricane Milton

Milton had me interested when it got more powerful, it now has my attention with Disney in its sights.

Go get 'im, Milton Mouse. Avenge your father.

Ocala is going to be a shitfest because everyone is thinking the same thing. They already are telling the farm folks to evacuate to Ocala. Good luck finding a place to stay there. Orlando is shutting the fuck down already too. You might be able to score something cheap in the general area but they're planning for the worst.

I was giving Key Largo as an extreme example. I wouldn't do Ocala simply because that's what everyone is thinking and I'm almost willing to bet there's gonna be an uptick in crime.
Yeah early bird gets the dong. Perhaps 30 mins north to tim tebow land then.

Winds of 175 mph and pressure of 911 mb according to NHC. This is ridiculous.

What the FUCK. That's only 10mph before Dorian and STILL intensifying. Holy shit. This is insane.
It's going plaid. Holy shit. Anyone who would forecasted this even 24 hours ago would have been called a loon.
I honestly can't believe it's gotten this strong this quickly. Even yesterday I posted like "eh it MIGHT become a cat 4 before landfall" and I thought that was overestimating it a little. Not even 24 hours later and it's one of the strongest Atlantic storms on record.

Our little boy has grown up so fast!

Seriously though, any Kiwis in the Tampa bay area, get the fuck out of there NOW, and bring your valuables with you. Your shit's about to get rocked.

Can o ask a really dumb question?
We get our first look at Milton in the sunlight today. Eyewall looks good. This things shaping up to be a monster, hope that wind shear really does tear it apart or Florida is in for a rough one.

There are two big red blobs here. What’s the more northerly .easterly one? Is this two big storms next to each other or all part of one system? Are they going to merge and if they do what happens? Does the total energy increase or fragment?
Apologies if this is a really stupid question,I dont know much about hurricanes

Not a dumb question. The two elements are connected and part of the same storm. The hurricane is currently absorbing the blob (or 'backpack') into the main circulation, and the 'backpack' in turn does appear to be feeding the main circulation.

The phenomenon isn't completely understood, although it does seem to occur more frequently in hurricanes that are rapidly intensifying. I think Matthew (2016) had a similar 'backpack' when he achieved category 5 intensity, and maybe Dorian as well.

This picture was from about 15 hours ago. You can see the entire Gulf is very active with storms.

Early this morning this "blob" in front of Milton started forming, and getting larger.

As Milton gained strength, it appeared to almost "eat" this system in front of it.
