Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Ok, thanks man

Edit: I have some time after all:

Oh, by the way, slamming your hand on someone's desk like that, Zack? That's assault. You aren't a leader, Zack, you are a loser. I was an actual teaching assistant for a while, and I didn't have to assault the students.

He’s such an art advocate, that when given the chance to go on the biggest podcast in the world, Rogan Experience, and expose the plight of the American comic industry (and “clear” his name), he turned it down for apartment hunting.

I should’ve known he was little bus material back when I learned about that.
It's insane to me that he wouldn't take an opportunity to go on the Rogan Experience. Imagine how much more relevant he would be today if he hadn't passed up the chance to get his name out there.

What in the Hell is wrong with him?
Someone really needs to revoke his AI license.

I was a assistant for a special needs class in high-school, Zach is more of a child then those actual retarded children.

TLDW version: Meyer was thinking about shutting down his channel. Everyone is more of an asshole now, not him of course. And there's a clear lack of leadership. He's not shutting down his channel anymore because there are people on the internet that are WRONG and he is the ONLY one who can correct the record, naturally. He will be the one to make the BPC adhere to standards, mind you that he cries "muh veteran owned business" when standards are applied to him.
"why is everyone so mean now? i don't understand, glad I'm not though. anyway back to the main topic, that cumdumpster whore heather antos still isn't destitute in a gutter like i want her to be. by the way has that man in a dress mags joined the 41% yet? god i hope him and that fat cunt Gail Simone die soon."

lol

He would have a softball interview too considering Rogan 's views align with the right more. Goes double when you remember that Joe tries to agree with people he likes. The only reasons he might have to say no is that he had no faith that it would be a fair interview (bullshit), he does not want to be in a place where he has no control of everything that happens (stupid), he did not care that it was the biggest opportunity and wanted to play his anti-networking shtick (retarded) or he had performance anxiety (understandable but still).

So Jon Del Arroz got kicked off of kickstarter less than a week after simping for them over indiegogo. Looks like Ethan's crew probably made it happen.
I hope this gives a boost to Fund My Comic because to hell with Indiegogo and Kickstarter. I don't know how Ethan can rationalize the love for Indiegogo like it is some morally superior alternative with all the shadowbanning and even outright banning his boy Cecil. I feel like he must have some behind the scenes arrangement with them.

JDA was on a stream with Vox Day and the Fund My Comic guy talking about going on Fund My Comic for his next book just last week. before he got banned on indiegogo, and the FMC guy (sorry I don't remember his name) said their data suggests most sales come from your fans who will follow you wherever, so the strategy is to start on FMC for 30 days and then open it up to the bigger platforms to catch the rest of the people who are customers of the big platforms who might find you just browsing around. Because of the lower percentage FMC takes, you end up getting more money that way.

I don't know if I was working towards a larger point but really I just hope Fund My Comic gets more love and I also want to say screw Indiegogo.

Zack does not fail to bring the crazy with each of his videos.

In this latest one, the upshot of what Zack is saying seems to be that the world is falling apart, because it isn't being run like the military. The world, YouTube, comics, etc need to be a military dictatorship with Zack in charge so he can "check" anybody who gets out of line.

Zack loves to generalize. He talks about how everyone is an asshole now, but he never defines what exactly he means by an asshole. By the end of the video you come away with the impression that an asshole is simply anybody who says or does anything Zack doesn't like.

Zack's notion that The Drinker does not watch anything he reviews has become a monomaniacal obsession. Zack's latest proof that The Drinker did not in fact watch Joker 2 before reviewing it is that The Drinker said the events of Joker 2 happen soon after the events of Joker 1. According to Zack, this is completely false, because Joker 2 picks up two years after Joker 1.

(Because Zack desperately needs to believe that Drinker and others give "fake reviews," it does not occur to Zack that the word "soon" is a relative term. Soon can mean a lot of things in different contexts. When one person uses the word soon describing things that happen two years later, it might seem legitimately soon after to that person.)

What I come away with after having listened to Zack's latest video is that he suffers from one of the worst cases of lack of self awareness I've seen. Zack picking fights with everybody, screeching about how they're fake, generally losing his shit about everything is not an asshole. It is everybody else that is the asshole. Zack does not like YouTube commentary that runs counter to his own thoughts. But, the problem is not that Zack feels insecure and angry because people disagree with him and listen to these other YouTubers instead of him. No, the problem is that Zack is not the NCO in charge of YouTube commentary who is able to silence anybody saying anything he doesn't like.

If everyone and everything would just be exactly how Zack needs them to be, there would be no problems.

Why can't the entire world bend to Zack's will? Is that too much to ask?

As the bigger CG guys get booted off other platforms I hope the fund my comic guy is prepared to process refunds. The amount of refund requests over all campaigns that ethan gets would probably bankrupt them. If the customers will go anywhere why don't these morons go the Rippa route and pay no percentage? I guess they find some comfort in pinning a lot of the liability on a third party.

They make the campaign owner fulfill the refund request after the campaign ends. So they get around doing a bunch of refunds that way.

I'm going to say this, and it might seem like a deadbrain take from a media illiterate doofus like me (Though, I can almost guarantee I watch more 'artistic' indie films from different countries than Zack who seems to only shovel popcorn in his face and clap at the thing he sees in the screen)

When someone says 'soon after' an event they aren't wrong. The only reason someone should be upset is if there is a clear indication of time passage. I haven't seen the film and I doubt I will at this point because I don't act like Zack and 'complete' my film lists. Joker 2 seems pointless, so I have no reason to 'complete' the Joker duology, in the same way I don't need to 'complete' my watching shitty Crow remakes. - So this question goes to those who watched it, does Joker 2 have any clear indication of time passage?

if yes, and they say it's been 2 years, then Drinker is basically right, 2 years for such a large trial is relatively 'soon' after the events of the first film. If it was 5-10 years or later, then I'd agree that Drinker didn't use the word correct, but even if he didn't use the word correct that still wouldn't convince me he DIDN'T see the film because of one misspeak.

if no, then Drinker is just shooting in the dark and assuming it's soon after, and without a proper indication of time he's still not wrong to say 'soon' because in his mind it's happening (again) relatively soon after the events of the first film.

But there's another layer to this, namely that - who gives a flying fuck? The world around them hasn't changed drastically, whether it's soon or not after the first, the events are still playing out without the need to make it known how much time has passed necessarily. So why does Zack hit on this 'incorrect' wording from Drinker? Because he can autistically fixate on it, and claim that Drinker didn't see the entire movie, despite being able to cite other events in the film, because he got a relative passage of time wrong, by Zack standards. Ironically this little 'gotcha' is the type of thing that causes his fans to shovel popcorn into their mouths and clap at the funny retard calling out the big mean Hollywood slayer.

Zack ,get a life, reach out to your kids - or don't, they might actually benefit from not having you in their life, they might be happier because you seem really mean lately!

I think Zack still has some kind of idea that the mainstream media isn't completely gone. He clearly takes pride in his idea of himself as some kind of balanced voice of reason. Back when he was well-liked for trashing comics, he would still give good reviews to new ones that he liked. I remember I bought a Gwenpool book based on his glowing review. I didn't end up liking it as much but it was fine I guess. Another thing I remember was when Gina Carano first showed up on the Mandalorian, a number of people were annoyed that it was just another strong female character and thought it was another forced diversity girl power thing, EVS included, and Zack was one of the early people defending her and saying it wasn't like that and she was actually a good character and convinced Ethan to change his mind about her. I like her as a person fine but I was never convinced bringing her in wasn't some strong woman feminist crap.

But I think he identifies himself as being the voice of reason so hard that he looks for reasons to see things as fine in every single piece of garbage Hollywood craps out. He will say every time there's a woman character doesn't have to mean it's a "woke" thing. In the past that was true, but you can easily tell there's always some kind of agenda by the types of characters they're not making. Has Disney Star Wars even had a single original straight white male character? Are there any legacy ones left they didn't undermine? Is there a particular reason black guys in tv commercials outnumber white guys by like 20 to 1? Of course there's no problem if a particular commercial has a black guy in it, but when it's all of them, it becomes clear that they're doing a thing on purpose for some reason.. Zack just zeroes in on the idea that just because this or that has a bit of diverse casting doesn't make it woke, and he's missing the big picture and patterns and dismisses it as some crazy conspiracy when it's in your face all the time plain as day. For someone who prides themself on being so media literate he's a goddamned retard.

That could work on a protocol pass the buck level, but if the card charge is processed thru Fundmycomic and it is charged back the platform will pay. I guess they can collect from the creator's future earnings if there are any.

Zack is kind of an outlier because he'll desperately defend movies that are both critical and commercial flops, while being critical of more successful films in both categories. He's not just ignorant of film, he's also got terrible taste.

Exactly. It's bizarre, because through about three-fourths of Zack's video, he talks relatively calmly and is pretty disciplined in that he doesn't start raving about specific BPCs. (Even though he is obviously alluding to them.) But then at the end of his video, he starts going off about The Drinker and his review. And the only bit of "evidence" he provides is Drinker's use of the word "soon."

Like you said, he just fixates on that one single thing, and autistically hammers on it over and over as if this proof becomes more definitive the more he repeats himself. (I guess it's like the time he slammed his fist on a desk to maintain order and discipline in a classroom as it's unelected leader.) It's same the way Zack finds proof of all of his weirdo theories by observing one random thing and then letting his imagination go wild as to it's significance.

It's funny, I agree with Zack that that was a terribly run class. But that's both because of the guy who was sleeping and the guy slamming his hand on the desk. The whole thing sounds like a nightmare. However, Zack was part of the reason the class was a nightmare, not a fix for it.

My theory that Zack is going after Drinker personally and specifically is probably because when they worked together, Zack pitched his ideas to Drinker (considering Drinker is a writer)

and probably unlike the kind hearted Dixon, Drinker probably told Zack "your ideas are retarded, and you are retarded for thinking these ideas"

and then Zack mostly started a one-sided fight against Drinker because of that

What I find interesting about this anecdote is how it shows that Zack thinks he has some kind of duty or moral calling to enforce what he perceives as right and wrong on others even if he's in no official position make those kind of calls. Vigilante justice Zack.

If you elect to enter the military and you have commanding officers over you in a chain of command, then yes, it's appropriate for the officers in charge to maintain discipline according to military standards. But civilian life in a democratic society where citizens are supposed to enjoy freedom and free speech rights isn't supposed to work that way. Democratic society means that you have to allow some assholes to be assholes for the sake of maintaining freedom.

You are not Bat Zack, Zack. You don't have a higher calling to shut people down because they say and do things you don't like.

Yes, it's obvious it's personal, but we unfortunately probably never know what happened behind the scenes between them.
