Yeah, the second half is a mess. The grappling points becoming irrelevant, the rushed rocket launcher introduction, the difficulty becoming even more inconsistent… When the game is “complete” I don’t think it would be good for a newcomer to play from beginning to end without having to wait for updates.

The issue of difficulty is partial to the lack of clear direction for the gameplay (the utterly retarded Gutter robots seen in Violence are bad enough to begin with). Just take a look at the new weapons besides the Rocket Launcher. The saw blade was a cool idea, but then you get some of the most retarded and useless weapons like the flammable liquid thing the rocket launcher has. What purpose does it serve other than... a few niche instances? It seems like it was included because the team wanted something that would ignite the enemies, but then they forget that explosions already do that. Just a lot of fluff with no substance. At least the levels are fine.

There was a theory very early on that either the player or the playable character is God, but Hakita shot down that theory very quickly.

Yeah, that’s a very good point. That line of dialogue in the layer 6 fight really should have been explained further. Gabriel would see the hell inhabitants as subhuman, so why would he care about them being massacred? It must be a case of the devs not thinking beyond the surface level while writing their own story…
