Still not the craziest flight ever. That award goes to NOAA 42 penetrating Hugo's eye wall.
They slammed into an updraft/downdraft/updraft triplet which wrenched the aircraft violently from 20 mph up, to 22 mph down, to 45 mph up again, all while the horizontal winds peak at 185 mph (298 km/hr)! Then force on the plane goes from 3 g’s downward to 6 g’s up (1 g = the force of gravity). Even items which were fastened down, such as a 200 pound life raft, are torn loose and sent careening around the cabin. Even worse, one of the aircraft’s four engines spouts flames. Just then they enter the calm of Hugo’s eye. The pilots pull the plane out of its dive 880 feet above the raging ocean surface, a loss of 620 feet in just seconds. To add to their predicament, the navigator Sean White spots a de-icing boot dangling loose over the engine next to the one on fire.

If you do know anyone that’s staying in an evacuation area, let them know to write down their blood type, and first/last name on their bodies.

First responders here instructed us to do that before Katrina. And they did end up having to rely on it for a lot of people.

A few kiwis/channers found a bunch of static cameras livestreaming and it was an interesting experience watching as the storm came in, has anyone found any similar setups or random camera feeds for this storm?

Disney World is Closing for Milton
Ahead of Hurricane Milton making landfall this week, Walt Disney World has announced closures related to the incoming storm. According to the resort, the following closures and operational changes have been announced for Walt Disney World Resort:
• On Oct. 9, the theme parks and Disney Springs will be closed in phases beginning at 1 p.m.
◦ Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 1 p.m.
◦ Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close at 2 p.m.
• It is likely the theme parks will remain closed on Thursday, Oct. 10.
