I've noticed a trend in recent years of govts over-reporting the severity of things like this, probably in response to Katrina being way worse than people thought it would be.

So here's hoping no one gets injured and Mother Nature rightfully reclaims what's hers: Insurance company assets.
They started doing that in my neck of the woods after the 2011 Joplin tornado. A lot of people died in that tornado because they didn't take the warnings seriously.

Having gone through an evacuation once before, make sure you have any important documents somewhere secure and ready to take with you in a moment's notice. Certificates, deeds, wills, anything that proves who you are and what you own. Have multiple copies of them and have them ready to go because you can not rely on fucking anyone to do shit.

Chill with that. It's an area of concern, yes, but it currently has low overall chances of developing into anything.

Deal with what's currently on the plate first.
I'm just putting a warning up ahead of time because Milton developed from the same shit and the currents seem to be solidifying into something. Doesn't mean I'm not taking what's going on right now any less seriously.

As an aside to the abject horror of this storm, following this thread and watching Scuffed Realtor got me wanting to redpill Americans on the best anti-cyclone/hurricane house design, the Queenslander.
It may look downright silly to have your house 8-10 feet in the air, but it means that when cyclone season comes round the wind just blows around it and the water flows under it. You can genuinely shelter in place through a cat 5 in one of these bad boys, just pull everything upstairs and chill. Once the storm passes you can sit on the veranda, smoke grass and watch snakes swim in the floodwater.
The airflow under the house also keeps it cooler in summer and usually means you get a big space to use like a garage without having to build one. The downside being it needs to be re-stumped (have its stilts replaced) every couple decades, which might cost 20 grand. Better than having a flooded house though imo.
If something like this exists elsewhere I'd be interested to know since I haven't seen it.

To be fair, Katrina was a sort of big deal but not really until the levees broke. Then unlimited niggatry happened afterwards. It really was the niggers that made shit bad.

be wary yes, but we need to keep morale up in the thread to ease the fears of florida fags lurking and watching

it says a lot how many Americans think their own government genuinely means them harm.
With how the government treats its people like dog shit compared to foreigners. Its not hard to see why they think that.
COVID killed pretty much what little trust people had left in them along with the 2020 elections being a shit show.

Florida Jail in Hurricane Milton Danger Zone Won't Evacuate Inmates
Passing thought. Where are they holding the guy who shot at Trump?

As retarded as this sounds on the surface, a jail is probably one of the safest buildings you could be in during a storm like this. Solid concrete construction, backup generators, food supply. Assuming they get people off the first floor in the event of storm surge, most inmates should actually be just fine.
Its great until you consider they're locked in cells and there could be tons of flooding.

is that even possible while we're staring down so much bad news? Can't really say I'm bringing morale down if I'm posting right after the possibility of a second eyewall replacement and a confirmation of Cat 5.

Calm vs the edge of the hurricane. Those are huge fucking waves. 18-30 feet not even close to the center.

Remember these buoys are about 40 feet in height themselves
The noaa site has better links and info on that buoy
