Milton’s pushing along a mad amount of lightening, no wonder there’s also a tornado warning.

Noticed this livestream of coast.

Shoutouts to greeen rainjacket man on the top righ-and he's gone. Seeing people mess around with the heavy waves is funny but also spooky because they could like die or whatever.

Someone just took a fucking selfie as I was typing this out... and then again after i screen grabbed. and again...

Saw someone post quite some time ago to fill bathtub with water so you have a supply (i was asleep when that was posted, so couldnt post until now). Please don't do that, unless you have some way to purify the water. Standing water is a great way to get some kind of sickness, as it will get contaminated fast.
If it is your only option, make sure you have a tarp or some kind of waterproof sheeting to cover it with to prevent dust and debris from settling on the surface. And if you don't have a purification method, do not use it for drinking, keep it for cleaning or such instead.
Also, make sure your food supplies are watertight too, and stored where they can be kept dry and away from pests, as there will probably be a lot of displaced pest animals after the storm (rats, mice, insects etc) that would love to eat your food as much as you would.
This is good advice. I grew up in an area that was prone to the occasional hurricane or ice storm. If power even seemed like it was going to go out, we’d fill the bathtub. It was never considered drinking water, it was mostly there to flush the toilets and clean ourselves. I’ve never thought of it being used as drinking water, which is kind of horrifying to think about, so I want to emphasize your advice for any retard out there that thinks shower water=potable water

To keep food cold if you don't have a generator, fill the washing machine with ice. They are very well insulated.

Man, I am always pleasantly surprised by the amount of genuine diversity in my fellow Kiwis. You might have to sift through some retarded bullshit, but there's such a broad array of professions, interests, and backgrounds on this site that if I read a thread, I walk away from that subject significantly more informed than I would be had I resorted to regular media. I really love this site.

Floridabros, stay safe! I can't think of a people more equipped to deal with a hurricane, but this is a monster. Really hoping OEM by you guys has a good management plan and some hot shit providers ready to roll.
Yeah, KF is without a doubt the most diverse community on the internet, in regards to ideology, occupation, and demographics. Literally not a single other platform can claim the same.

There's quite a gaggle of people at the top right one doing selfies.
Key West is going to be a few hundred miles from the epicenter of the storm. I don't think it's smart to be out rn, but it's probably not the most dangerous place on earth rn

Edit:

The scale is in the bottom right corner for reference

glancing at some resources it appears the Keys are currently experiencing what is likely to be their strongest conditions with winds around 30 mph
so yeah "ZOMG TEH HEKKIN SELFARINOS" is going to get really old quick

What the fuck is it with these "people" and selfies

not 5 minutes go by without some retard posing for a photo

I mean i live in bulgaria and yeah. we don't have any natural disasters here whatsoever.
If you ignore the fact that the entire country, no, peninsula gets engulfed in flames and fires so bad it'll make the napalm bombings of vietnam or tokyo look like birthday candles by comparison
Yeah, but I live in the Rich part of Europe, where forest fires are rare.

The rest of the world is on fire, being blown away by hurricanes and dealing with earthquakes, tornadoes, and so on. Well, it gets kind of cold, so I might have to wear my warm jacket instead of my summer jacket. It is a good jacket, but it is too warm.

Bit late to help the Milton folks but in a real pinch you can make water purification solution using certain pool shocks, basically take like a teaspoon of at least ~70% calcium hypochlorite pool shock per gallon of water to make the solution, then maybe an ounce of that per gallon of water you want to drink.

General consensus for hurricanes is that.."fuck it let's have fun if we might die", so people take selfie.

There were people riding jet skies during harvey, it's just human nature to do stupid shit, even in the face of death

945ish update. The wind is pretty consistently 10-15mph now with gusts a bit higher but rare. The rain has been a consistent slow pace since before my 745 update. No water pooling in yards yet, but the street is getting filled up for sure. (It always fills up with any consistent raining but always finds a lower point so we don't flood). The big trees are dancing a little and I'm gonna take a nap before real fun begins. I'll try and post updates for interested kiwis until my electricity goes out.
