Technically, they joined under conditions of the entire document. Including article V, the amendment process. So they could remove the electoral college that way, and states would have to accept it, because they also agreed that they’d all abide by the amendment process
That being said, there’s a snowballs chance in hell you could amend away the electoral college. You’d need 3/4ths of the states to agree, and there are too many states who benefit from it for that to happen.
What’s more likely to happen is the small state suicide pact, aka the national popular vote interstate compact, finally goes into effect. But that’s not likely to happen imo, and there’s some unresolved legal questions as to if that thing is even constitutional.

The trajectory of this will be:
- Once-pleasant suburbs will be swamped with migrants, turning them into absolute ghettos. Crime everywhere, trash everywhere, and shantytowns. People with enough money will flee to gated communities, which will become extremely expensive to live in due to supply and demand, and due to private security becoming part of HOAs.
- The ability for natural-born citizens to protect themselves will be taken away for "equity," meaning you are in deep shit if you have any sort of chemically-fired projectile and use it against a protected class (read: some bitter, resentful tyrant in government wants to make an example of you for arbitrary reasons or for reasons of reinforcing the status quo).
- Amazon, Blackrock, and other megacorporations will go all-in with the company towns they've been quietly investing in by renovating abandoned shopping malls/centers. Lower floors are retail and restaurants while the bigger areas are turned into work spaces (warehouses and offices). Upper levels are company-subsidized pods. The company towns have private security and people are reliant on these campuses for all their basic needs. Business tenants have an assured customer base. This neo-serfdom will be the only way for the non-wealthy to have any semblance of normality and this fact will be used to dole out positions to the politically useful and favored (new versions of mid-level feudal appointments). If you do anything politically incorrect, you are out in the ghetto and someone will fill your slot right away.
- Everything will be monitored and you will not have any privacy whatsoever unless you live in the shittiest of ghettos. Not even the uber-wealthy will be absolved of this. More biomonitoring (chips), more tattlers (devices meant to monitor productivity), and the introduction of enforced rationing for "climate justice" (which is really just TPTB stretching out overly-inflated goods while hording all the good stuff for themselves).

Just imagine if the media actually did their jobs properly and reported on the man objectively. Imagine if the news media weren't the majority of the cogs in the propaganda machine.
Trump would have a >70% approval rating. He would be winning these elections in Reagan-esque landslides.
The man's policies are the opposite of extreme, and he's funny and charismatic as hell. I hate how the media has successfully swayed so many people's opinions of this man.

"Ballot Printer Go Brrrrr" instead of the very real issue of vote harvesting and faking mail-in-ballots.
They do actually do -some- effort other than just counting the numbers and reporting something else. A simple recount would find that and lead to some very serious questions. There is in fact a baseline requirement for the steal to work in the U.S. And it seems a lot of effort is put into declaring something they don't actually do to any real amount (Printing Ballots on the day and just running them) instead of what they actually do (Go around harvesting ballots and stuffing fake ballots, usually with peoples names on them that they know will not vote).

Another possibility if the press just did its job as it's supposed to: Trump wouldn't be as popular. It well could be that it's because of the press' overheated, overwrought, over-the-top descriptions of him that makes attractive in the going-rogue "he's gonna tweak the Establishment's nose" sense, when his first term showed that he really didn't and didn't really try to.
(Don't get me wrong, I'd rather enjoy that kind of based Trump who would tell the neo-lib neo-con Uniparty to go fuck itself and then back that up in some meaningful ways, but I don't think that's really who he is or what he's after.)

when she first became the nominee i thought maybe what was happening is like if a regular person competed in the olympics. her bad speeches and inability to answer questions was simply because professional politicians make it look so easy through a combination of genetic predisposition to sociopathy and decades of practice
after seeing her fail interview after interview where a random high school student could give better and more informed answers, i realized no. she really is just that dumb
